well i sold my 84gt ttop and got this 80 notch, now has FSR PERFORMANCE 8.8 with 3.73 gears,rebuilt trac lock new bearings and seals trick flow diff cover with bearing support,and royal purple lube,mac upper and lower control arms,ford motorsport c springs red isolaters and disc brakes,kyb agx shocks and struts, lower torque box reinforcement,uppers are on order, getting full length subframe connectors, also has strut tower brace,87-93 disc brake upgrade for front along with maximum motorsport sway bar reinforcements with mac caster camber plates, for a motor i have a 331 with e7 heads and 1.6 roller rockers,edelbrock intake and carb, and edelbrock cam underdrive pullies,mac equal length headers,xpipe no cats,plans for this spring are get all body work done and car painted silver frost,sonic blue, gm burnt orange metallic or? then over the next winter we would install drive train ,331,fsr built t5 and alum drive shaft,so this is my project ill keep posting pics as it comes together hope you enjoy it as much as me

Ever since the first time I saw your car a couple years ago, I've wanted an S-197 Mustang in Sonic Blue. But they were outta my price range and Sonic Blue is actually a pretty rare color. So, when the chance to get one came along, I did what I had to do, sold my black LX (in pieces!) and got my "dream car", and it's close to being paid for already.

It's not a Roush but I love it just the same. I took it to Detroit for the Woodward Dream Cruise last weekend and it was AWESOME!!! It handles like a slot-car, (It's got the full Steeda Sport Suspension package) and it's as fast as my Cobra or damn close to it. The Imola wheels are kinda unique and are forged one-piece Chrome. :thumbsup

Eh... I don't see any shame in liking Sonic Blue or the new Mustang body style. I always have and I'm not ashamed to admit it. If Andy had that car, or Wayne, or Beaver Cleaver, I'd feel the same way. It's the coolest color they ever made for Mustangs. When I first saw a Terminator that one of my friends in my town has, I fell in love with the color, and when Mike showed up one night at Wayne's Drive-In with his S-197, I was hooked on the body style and the color combined.
Now I got one of my own and I love it... And people stop and look at it everywhere I take it, because they know a nice looking car when they see it. :D
When I had it in The Motor City, even GM lovers said it was a sharp looking Mustang.

I liked that red one you had a LOT.
The newer cars have "Vista Blue" but it's not the same. It's slightly lighter and does not get that darker tone at dusk or low-light like Sonic Blue.

a few things.....greg, your car is a beautiful car, and i agree, sonic blue is one of the better colors that they offered on a mustang. However, Redfire metalic is also a very eye grabbing color too:thumbsup heck some times I wish I could of found a s197 that I liked in sonic blue or redfire metalic (however wasnt redfire discontinued after 04).....

First off, it might kill Want Notch to watch this car transform since my friend has some strange taste, but the Cobra R Wing is on order and Mr. Bodykit's vertical door kit. It's something he has always wanted so he got it. And underbodys.

Change of subject, what kind of times did you see with the car before you sold it so I have an idea of what to expect. I saw you said 13.76 from the factory.

Well looks like there are fitment issues with the GT decklid to the Cobra R Spoiler, so that spoils that. The car has a extreme warranty so the mods might get put on the back burner but we've been looking at the twin turbo kits and comparing them to the KB, any ideas hint tips and comments would be great.

i would talk to want notch first, and see what he has all in it. then I would go to c&m and talk to marv....he can install and set up a fi system as well as tune it for you....would get the sct tuner before you get the gears, because of the electronic speedo

For me it was the right decision, and I am not realy regretting it....the 04 is a much better car than the 88, and it was just getting to the point where I was afraid of the 88 nickel and diming me.....plus I didnt have the time that I needed to put into it....Over all the 04 is a far better choice, and I can always get another 88....this time though, with t-tops

I do need help with it now though. I think the suspension is loose or something because its making a squeaking noise after I go over bumps.

When we get a decent day I can take a look at it for you. I have all the stuff sitting in the garage to go through the suspension. Chances are your crush bushings in your LCAs are the culprit. I've fixed a few S197 suspensions in the past three years.

Won't be anything special (and not just because it's a Ford :goof) Keeping with the 289 3spd manual for now as that's all he wants. It's a Texas car and I'm still pretty surprised at how solid it is. Couple of very minor things to patch up but no rust!

I have new springs and I am just waiting on the new dampers and front strut mounts. I should be doing intake/tune and exhaust soon as well.

I am worried about the flywheel bolts backing out.

For brakes my long term plan is probably StopTech (http://www.stoptech.com/). A more shorter term solution for me is probably SS brake lines, new fluid, some EBC Blue Stuff pads (http://www.ebcbrakes.com/automotive/index.shtml) and some slotted rotors. I am definitely more a road course type of guy than a quarter mile type of guy.
