The new Ride a 100% Complete NO more project cars here......

1977 Chevelle SE One of approximatly 50 ever produced from subcontracts thru GM motor division to boost sales of the Slagging Chevy Sales, The One I am getting is one of only supposed 10 that were Black on Black bucket seat cars and all but two that I have found were optioned with 350 /350th the other two were 305 cars he says were original but I have not found any data to back that claim up for all that I have found were 350 cars. Two were made with T-Tops only one has survived, The Chevelle SE was NOT a factory produced car. The SE was created by a company in Witchita, Kansas called Special Editions, Inc.
who modified a mere fifty-one (yes, 50!)

1977 Chevelle Malibus with aftermarket (not factory) goodies which included a front air dam, a rear spoiler, 60 series tires on Turbine II aluminum wheels and a special orange and yellow stripe package.

All fifty cars were either black, white or silver and were optioned with a 350/4bbl engine, these cars had a rear trunk lid spoiler that had CHEVELLE SE on the right hand end of the spoiler. The spoiler had yellow and orange pinstriping about 2 inches wide that went across the rear spoiler and down the sides of the car. Under the front bumper was a fiberglass ground effect type spoiler. One of these cars was delivered to Bill Southern Chevrolet in Newkirk, Oklahoma (no longer in business) and the car was white. I know the name of the original owner, but he doesn't know who owns the car now. The silver one was delivered to Charlie Cannon Chevrolet in Ponca City, Oklahoma (no longer under that name).

the white one Pictured is from a EBAY listing a few years back and since has disappeared back into the woodwork

What's on the seats?

The funk on the seat is the finest Oklahoma mold money can buy. It'll clean up fine with a little Oxyclean.

Should be nice when it's done.

You won't get confused for anyone else driving that. I wonder what insurance companies do when valuing a "1 of 50" car.

There are some weird ones tho, and still can have a certain level of value.

Gotta Thank my Dads brother for that he had a Drag car 1976 Laguna Lime green in Color and had a blower on it when I was 15 he took me for a ride on the backroads and nailed me to the back of the seat for what seems like an eternity and have loved them Ever since, I have had some other cars but always came back to these.....One I kik myself for getting rid of was a 1965 Dodge Dart GT had 340/727 trans, bucket seats was stupid and wanted sleds more and swapped it for 4 sleds and a trailer.................. Now ask me if I still have the sleds ? LMAO

I dont understand why you would do a burnout in your garage.

Is it a 350 or a 305?

74hotrodmalibu
03-14-2012, 10:26 PM
because My driveway is gravel and the cops love me enough to be on the street in my small hodunk town with no plates or insurance on a car roasting the tires LMAO

And its a 350 taken .030 over and few other things done by a speed shop in St Louis by Previous Owner

Because its a very inexspensive alrternitive to a Serpentine conversion, For I got tired of replacing the v-belts all the time

Why didn't you just go to a junkyard like stateline auto parts and get a stock serpentine setup? That would have been very inexpensive and wouldn't make that annoying noise!

There is also that yard between 11th st and route 2 off of Harrison that is a core yard. They are super cheap but there is a $3 entry fee to walk the yard.

74hotrodmalibu
03-21-2012, 10:19 PM
I know where all them yards are at and I am building the Car How I want to build........... whether you or anyone else likes what I am doing so Be it ......... My touch's that set it apart from all the other cookie cutter camaros mustangs and 72 and lower A bodied Chevelles..... I already had the gilmer belt set up from a previous build so I seen no sense on buying yet more parts to let the other ones stay on the Shelf in the garage, If you dont like it that is ok I am not building this car for you I am building it how I want it .........

And with that Being said I mean no dis respect to you what so ever but This is how I want it done, if it annoys you I wont say I am sorry that because that is what I wanted on MY car .........but thanks for taking the time to weigh in !!!

Irish
03-21-2012, 10:34 PM
That's fine...

At least you understand that if you post up about your car, you are subjecting yourself to other people's opinion. I offered you another option because you said, "it's an inexpensive alternative to a serpentine conversion."

I thought I would try to assist you to help avoid people asking you what's wrong with your car when you are driving around town!

Let that mother whine it's heart out lol!!!!!

do I understand that you've chosen to take a somewhat rare (though not overly desired) car which may or may not be worth money as a factory restored vehicle some day, and modify it, basically removing any chance that it will ever be worth an appreciable amount of money?

74hotrodmalibu
05-10-2012, 08:16 PM
Why Yes I have chosen that, LOL But I kept all Parts and there just bolt on Power adders LOL it already was taken .030 over by previous owner so just helping it breathe a little better, and I am not gonna sell it anytime soon or in the future, took me 14 years to find this one LOL so Just gonna have a little fun with it and when I get the body re-done ( needs lower 1/4's put back on ) I have them but just wanna get the car road worthy first and then this winter I will put it all back to stock appearance ( Body wise and paint ) the QJ needs to be rebuilt anyways it had a serious backfire and all but destroyed the QJ so gonna get that rebuilt as well...But had all these parts here already

74hotrodmalibu
05-14-2012, 04:43 PM
Now just need to switch out the Long plugs for the shorty header plugs and it will be ready to fire

I know a certain MonteHolic that will recognize these Subtle changes to the Center caps I just did, And I agree Chris already prepping them for Plasti dip Black and when if ever I paint car I ill have the painter do these as well (might powder coat them) would last longer than paint, and the caps don't really stick out that far Unlike the monster caps that were on the American racing wheels

Cool. Are those the type of rims that the "fins" are rubber? I came across a similar set on an early 80's Regal (not a TR) that were gold and they looked metal until a further look.

Well the Hankooks were not available at time of writing this update, so ended up with Primewell PS860 tires ( firestone's knock off brand ) Not bad of a price either Wanted the 275/60-15 but these sizes I got were $74 each, and the 275/60 were $125 each.

So I plan on dropping the front down and Inch or so and these 235/70 I didn't want them to rub at turns ( they are taller compared to what I am used to ) But anyways 235/70-15 rear 215/65-15 front ( which is the same size that is already there now) So tires finally and RWL.

Second got my horn button mount finally after waiting f0r it for about 6 weeks Post office lost it, and had to go thru there stuff to get a new one, So that was before Christmas and got a replacement finally and Put it on.

Third, got a carb and came with a free 355/350th setup My friend sold him a car with drivetrain and never paid for all of it So he told me to grab it from guy, all I have to do is pull it and get an Intake. Motor came from a 1973 Monte so should be good heads on it ( I hope anyway ) even comes with headers and exhaust to the Mufflers, So now I can take the original block out and build this one and NOT worry about the BOOM factor. ( no pics of motor have to pull it ) LOL and no Not cutting the hood.

Forth, got my Replacement 1977 grille as well with some better front fillers and a rear filler that isn't crumbling LOL

Well I test fitted ( No rim ) the Taller tires, A NO GO didn't like them took them back, Firestone Just called tonight and the Size I was after has went on sale. So Tuesday Maybe Wednesday they will ne Mounted and will be THE LAST time the turbines come off the car.

1. Got the Grille mounted and tried a few different things, I think I like the chrome grille surround and the chrome grill.

2. I got the street scoop for heck of deal so going to use it off / on for a bit ( not cutting original hood NO NO )

3. I got new to me front fillers, rear Bumper filler fronts painted and on rear filler is tomorrow.

4. Then to the Interior, the Black carpet that Kevin put in has faded to grey and while covered WTF that about ? Oh well black dye will work just fine, and Changing the wheel to my spoked one.

5. AND THE most important part a spoiler for the front that is the closest thing to what I think the SE should look like as far as the Lines for the car, Since no one has or can remember what it looked like.

Well new Motor build coming along really nice and wow was a Hella surprise when cracked the baby open, I knew it was supposed to be a 355 ( piston number came back to a speed pro ) but when I mic'ed the valve sizes they ended up being 2.02 / 1.6 Valve's I forgot to mic the CC duhhhh

I was stoked though and is a 4 bolt main 010 block....Oh so Happy ( the intake, carb, and valve covers were just put on for pics ) they belong to my buddy where I am working on the motor checked the bearings and are almost new. This motor has not been decked yet.
All I have to do now is get the gasket rebuild kit for it and drop it in the SE when I pull original out, unsure of this cam in it I didn't want to take out cam just to see what it was, and then put back in. Motor seriously only looks like it had under 3k miles or less since being taken .030 over.
