Anyone ever having recurring issues with nasal congestion and/or get addicted to Afrin?
I had to use it to help get over a sinus infection (made worse by previous damage from acid reflux to the back of my nose), but it causes rebound swelling etc.
Trying to find a way to breathe without using the shit. I also use a NetiPot and occasionally decongestant but the swelling is the worst part.

There are websites and even a class action against Afrin for the side effects they don't disclose. Anyone ever had a sinus issue like this?

ps I'm not making this up, that crap causes serious problems.

My info will not help ya, but I have serious thoughts each and every medicine out there has something that triggers you to depend on it, either just the thought or re occurring symptoms such as yours...

Good luck....

Although my whole family is blessed on medicine, Advil, Tums and Orange Juice is all that I have stocked in my home...

ya, Dad's side all has pain issues (check) and moms side just has weird shit happen (check).
I've been drinking a little apple cider vinegar, which sounds nasty but helps decongest you if its really painful and you've already taken meds.

I've had sinus issues my whole life. I used Afrin for years and years. Had countless sinus surgeries, with little or no improvement over many years. Last specialist I saw said I need more surgery. It's costly, and I've been putting it off for quite awhile now. The only thing aside from Afrin that has ever helped (which I am no longer using) is Claritin-D. You can't get it without going to the RX counter and asking for it and having them do a check everytime in the government system to make sure you're not buying more than you should and making meth, ha. It's a joke but... For me, it's allowed SOME relief. I use the 24 hour pills which give me about 12-16 hours of relief. They take an hour or so to kick into effect it seems.

I feel your pain. After sooo many surgeries it gets frustrating, and Afrin has always been a quick fix. The downside is, when you rely on it, you are screwed. Going cold turkey is NOT easy, though it can be done as I did it myself... Maybe try Claritin-D and see if it helps for you.

PM me if you want to share more info.

I suffered with monthly sinus infections for years growing up although i have no allergies.i got it under serious control by changing my home furnace filters on monthly basis, using humidifiers with menthol, ice packs and massage to the sinus pouches in the cheeks.

My gf's cousin has it worse than I do apparently, he literally carries it everywhere, goes through like a bottle a week.

I also knew kids in highschool who would put coke and water into afrin bottles so they could do it "low key".....which it wasn't.

Never used Afrin but used Xicam which is a nasty spray. Takes out the sinus problems but also does a number on the sinus and nose lining. Can only use it for 72 hours.

Did you try a spray called Sinus Flush?

Yeah you're only supposed to use that stuff for 3 days in a row. We have a cat and I have cat allergy. I usually use Claritin-D for the swelling of my nasal passages and only use nasal spray once in a great while.

Stupid meth heads screwed it up for everyone so you can only get 10-15 pills at a time and they track how often so you can't just go to a different store or go too often. So I have to go back every couple weeks instead of once a month.

I have sinus congestion problems up in my forehead. Tried drugs, Neti pot, and after 3 surgeries... still have problems. A couple things do help me. Drinking lots of water or jiuce hydrates your body and helps moisten sinus cavities. Soda does not help. For what that does not take care of, I use a water pik to rinse out my sinuses. The water pik gets the salt water mix into the sinus cavities like nothing else can. Seems wierd but it is a life saver. I use SinuCleanse single use salt packets to mix in the warm water. I don't think I could function daily without doing this as needed.
