300m long boat, 90m gash in hull of boat.

It sounds like the Captain was under the influence, as he has been arrested and detained.

I wouldn't want to try and pay for that ship's repairs.... Probably a $500 million boat. Ouch.

Which means fail,

"it was like the Titanic..."
"the movie?"
"Yea, just like that"
"But that's a movie, I doubt Leo was actually there..."
"So... it was based off fact, made by James Cameron.."
"So if Arnold Schwarzenegger punches you in the face, does that mean Terminators exist?"
"Of course"

Stupid humans believe anything Hollywood puts out...

All aboard the Fail boat........ Too soon?

Not soon enough.

Also, why do all of the cruise ships sink along the coast of Italy?

damm... new details saying that the captain wasnt even on the boat when it hit aground and that prior to he brought the ship too close. video from inside the ship looked pretty fucked up. imo, if I were on a large ship and the floor was tilted sideways, you are damm right I would be envisioning scenes from the movie titanic.

Everyone seems to forget the Poseidon Adventure... Old one and the Remake, fergalicious.

The funny thing is, how many cruise ship captains would? Nowadays at least...

That's going to be a pretty big lawsuit.

Costa Cruises is a subsidiary of Carnival.... I'm sure the company in general will still stay afloat just fine (no pun intended) considering Carnival plc, inc. owns approximately 49% of the worldwide cruise market, but yes, lawsuits up the ass.

I heard from someone that regardless of personal intentions, maritime law dictates the captain is the last one off the ship. I think this guy is now going to be charged with involuntary manslaughter.

Gonna be a hefty pricetag for Carnival. They are contracting a Dutch company that is coming in and removing the 2,500+ tons of fuel from the ship before they can even consider moving the wreckage... A ship that holds 4,000+ people is going to carry a large price tag to move.

Even though the captain may have jumped ship, you can't tell me he is the ONLY person on board a ship of that size who can operate the ship... why didn't anyone else do anything to avoid this catastrophe? Where were all the other officers? Heads are gonna roll on this one. Of the 4,000 people on board, it's amazing there are only 16 unaccounted for.

Very true... Crazy when you think about it. Won't be surprised if the conspiracy theories start flowing soon.

Actually, from what I have read of witness accounts, there wasn't anyone from the crew aboard the ship. They just left the passengers there.

If this is true, then they should all be charged with manslaughter and criminal negligence. OSHA should also be fining the Shit out of them on top of lawsuits and damages. I guess we will see!

We are not doing a cruise for our honeymoon. I would rather go to Hawaii than have to deal with anything like that. I wonder what the passengers might get out of it? Free passes to another cruise?
