Do you get overtime after forty hours, or after eight?

Depends. I haven't paid myself one cent since starting my business, so I guess I don't get over time. My full time job pays after 40 but I rarely work more than 35 hours in a week. The last company I worked for paid it after your regular daily shift. I worked 4 10's so anything over 10 in a day was OT, those who worked 5 8's got OT after 8 and they were a non union shop (I'm only guessing that plays a part in this pole).

I only get OT when it is preapproved or necessary to perform my job duties. Expected to minimize it whenever possible (because we're a 24/7 team), but its after 40/week. I didn't even know they could do it as 80/2 weeks..

My previous role was salaried, so I was very happy to move to this position.

My last job we went from no overtime (straight salary) to Half time over 40, which I had never heard of before. your first hour of OT was half of your hourly rate, and with the calculation it got a little less for each hour you worked after that. I like the straight salary more because at least you knew you were gettting screwed, and they couldn't say your getting paid "overtime". Probably easy to guess why I almost never worked OT there. LOL

Now I assume I get after 8 hrs since I fill out a slip for OT each day over 8 hours, but I haven't worked OT and been off a day in teh same week yet. Much happier now for a lot of reasons, and I'm not much of an OT person.

At my current job you get paid straight time after 45 hours. I got about $6k in overtime and on-call pay last year.

I just wanted to see a little what the split was. This is the first job ive had where overtime was offered/available. We were ot after eight and have since switched to after forty. Not sure how I feel about it yet. I'm not sure but I think were supposed to be getting on call pay now, so if that does happen that will offset any ill feelings I have about going to after forty. I don't have much vacation so going to after forty will only effect me one week a year any way.

OT after 8
Doubletime after 12, that happens nearly every day.

10hr day mandatory minimum, working sat 90% of the time, sometime on call Sundays.
Average work week is 40/20/8, taxes eat all after that.

I get double for holidays and over 80 in 2 weeks. Our clock in and out system rounds to the closest 15 min too.
