So we are exploring buying some upgraded electronics as we have CRT TVs.

My wife wants Netflix.
My 2 Year old would probably like the Kinect thing.

I wouldn't mind streaming YouTube/Streetfire through the TV or playing Forza.

So what is the deal with the XBOX options and what should I look for / buy?

Do I need a new TV? If so, what brand flat screen and what type of hook ups?

Is 3D TV / LCD / LED / Plasma / anything a MUST?

I wouldn't mind buying stuff in "steps" to keep it affordable, but I could just throw everything on a card if it is a better buy.

Thanks.

Well I would look into a Samsung LED TV with "SMART TV"

It has Youtube, Hulu, NetFilix, Facebook, etc etc all built in. I would say 3D is NOT a must. I bought my kid a 7000 series Samsung for Christmas and it has the SmartTV, wireless, 240hz, GameMode (reduced lag for gaming) and 3D.

3D is only a must if you're interested in it IMO. You'll end up dropping more coin for BluRays that are 3D and they generally cost more.

Thanks for the input. I joined Costco and they have some nice Samsung LED TVs on sale right now. I guess I'll drop in there and take a closer look at specs.

Thanks again.

I actually have not even tried that function yet. But your right the TV can do that. My kid is always on the xbox on that TV now.

LED is the way to go, light weight less energy and bright picture!

This is the only LCD I'd buy http://elitelcdtv.com/elite-lcd-hdtv-overview/

The Samsungs are ok, still not as good as a good plasma.

The Panasonic VT series Plasmas are great.

I was never a fan of 3D because all the TVs I saw it on I could see flaws. When we bought a 58" VT series Panasonic plasma for our showroom, it was the first TV that I couldn't find any issues with and it looked how it should.
