On my 90' LeSabre one of the rocker arm bolts decided to break off. I was using a Craftsman extractor bit, which also broke off in the hole I drilled. I really don't want to remove the intake and head because of this one bolt. Not sure if anyone is confident they can do it...PM me if you want more details, if you're up for it and what it would cost.

This was the best X-Mas present I could of asked for.

Snap a pic and post it.

Here it is...Craftsman bit slightly sticking out but not enough to get a grip on. For how cheap the metal must be I assume it's able to be drilled.

I did have towel all around it when drilling before. I realize I will have to thoroughly clean the head of shavings before running it, assuming it runs  .

Take a nut just bid enough to cover the snapped bolt and weld it on. If you fill the inside of the nut with weld to hold onto the snapped bolt and get a socket on it fast enough the heat from welding should free up the bolt and the nut will give you a better way of turning it out

Thanks for the tip, never thought of that...but unfortunately I don't have any welding ability or equipment.

+10000000 for the welding trick. That's what we do.

Well, got it out. Combination of a punch, also was able to start a nut on it just enough to move it (tightening though) first, then some drilling.

Now the challenge is to find a place that sells these bolts, GM no longer does nor do local parts stores...engine/speed shops are closed today that I've tried.

My first thought is a 'you pull' yard with older GMs......

I would love to be able to do that, but these bolts are torque-to-yield, so unless I want to go through this again, I'm looking for new ones, factory TTY or reusable.

You check Ace or True Value? They seem to have the best selection of bolts, nuts, oddball sh!t, etc......

Just double checked and I don't think these are TTY bolts, I hit up Al's for a bunch. Car is about ready to fire, just double checking torque specs for the bolts...shop manual made no mention of degrees or not re-using them, just gave torque when re-installing.

Didn't show up when I looked, Rockauto and Napa list them, then when you add them to the cart they dissapear and state not available. Good thing they aren't TTY, atlhough if they were I'm sure some could be found. Car is back to daily status and runs fine, hopefully this was just some freak one time thing (knock on wood).
