Nice find, I was looking for the exact model last year and settled on a 2005 outback limited non-turbo/auto as there was slim pickings on the 2.5xt and couldn't find a local 5-speed.

The car looks great!!!

Next family car I buy will be an 05 Legacy Wagon GT 5MT.

Good luck! I looked long and hard for this car for any reasonable amount of money and reasonable distance and came up empty handed.

I remember going in to Sommer's Subi when I first started looking (and didn't realize how rare they were) and I remember saying:

"I am looking for a Legacy GT" there response was effectively "cool car, lets see if we have anything"
Then I said "oh yeah and I want it to be a wagon" at that point their smiles diminished a bit and they went to "Ah no way we have that, lets see if we can find something in the area we can trade for"
Then I mentioned I wanted it to be manual and they literally laughed and said something to the effect "Sorry won't happen, there are only a small handful of those for sale used in the country. Expect to travel a long distance and pay whatever they are asking" - They were right.

What came of it all? I got an 06 Nissan Murano.
Its a family car / daily driver a Legacy Wagon GT 5MT is certainly very cool but not worth the hassle and still pails in performance comparison to the real fun car anyways. You will likely have better luck finding a Forester XT or Outback XT both of which are still bad ass little daily drivers family cars.

I looked for quite a while and got frustrated so I stopped for a while. I ended up finding this one southwest of Chicago. Got super lucky!! Probably one of my favorite cars of all of them I have owned. For those that know me, that is saying a lot!! Thanks for the complements. I will update as I progress through my mod plans.

I have an 09 Murano. We must have similar tastes in vehicles.

I plan on buying one from out of state. Hell I bought my first 240 from KY and my second from GA. This one right here is the EXACT one I'd want, int he exact color. Not a bad price either. decent mileage as well. I just got the Murano though a few months ago, so I won't seriously be looking for a LGT until next year some time. http://www.cars.com/go/search/detail.jsp?tracktype=usedcc&csDlId=&csDgId=&listingId=78980077&listingRecNum=2&criteria=sf1Dir%3DDESC%26mkId%3D20041%26stkTyp%3DU %26bsId%3D20216%26mdId%3D21378%26rd%3D100000%26crS rtFlds%3DstkTypId-feedSegId-mkId-mdId-bsId-transTypeId%26zc%3D53051%26rn%3D0%26PMmt%3D1-1-0%26stkTypId%3D28881%26sf2Dir%3DASC%26sf1Nm%3Dpric e%26sf2Nm%3Dmiles%26isDealerGrouping%3Dfalse%26tra nsTypeId%3D28112%26rpp%3D50%26feedSegId%3D28705&aff=national

Yea most definitely. If you are willing to deal with the hassle and travel you should be able to pick one up. That white one is gorgeous!

Funny enough I also picked up one of my 240s in GA, the other was from FL. I must have a "thing" with that area of the country as my Lotus is from Atlanta! Just that I am getting older or something and not really willing to travel that far and deal with that much of a headache for a daily driver :(

Johnny the wagon looks dope! And that white LGT looks killer. And for a great price! YOU better snatch that up before someone else does. These cars don't sit too long on lots. If there are 4-5 people here on BCM looking for them, imagine how many are looking nationwide!

Can't wait to see yours modded John. It should move out great! These cars aren't all that difficult to get into the low low 13s or even high 12s with turbo and supporting mods.

I realize how rare that car is, especially in that color. Unfortunately I just bought a 09 Murano (needed a bigger family vehicle now that I have 2 kids), so the LGT purchase won't happen til next year at least.

A forester xt would be wrx powered, not sti powered. Unless someone did a swap or it was jdm. :(

To the op, VERY NICELY DONE!

More of a build quality issue than anything, not to say they aren't fast for the package. ;)

I wouldn't mind picking up an 07-08 Forester XT Sports 5MT, I remember driving a few brand new, never realized how rare they were until I started kind of wanting one recently. I wish they would have made a spec.B wagon...

Negative, 2.5 and specificaly pulled from the STI line for 2004 and some of 2005, closed deck and all. Add to that the gearing a bone stock Forester XT manual smokes a WRX even with the smaller turbo.

The block might be the same. But I'm sure the whole package is not.

What makes the STI drivetrain is the bottom end/top end/turbo/tune/transmission/rear end/etc. I remember when I almost bought an LGT (sedan) back in 05, and did some more researched and realized the drivetrain (although being a 2.5) was dramatically different between the LGT and the STI.

Not to take anything from the FXT, but you certainly shouldn't think that if you got a Forester XT you are buying an STI with a different body... It's just not the case.

Yeah, from what I read on the LGT forums there is a lot different with the LGT and the STI.

Like I posted it is STI "powerd", drivetrain is same balsa wood and glass construction 5 speed drivetrain. The FXT gets the tiny IC, turbo ect but with its lighter than WRX weight (not sure how they managed that?) and its city gearing in manual trans model it flat walks a WRX, still way slower than STI obviously but thats easily changed. I drove a bone stock 05 FXT manual, the thing would tear my 03 WRX manual a new one, its not even funny how much quicker it is but wont cruise 80+ without the buzzing of its gearing driving you nuts.

Blurb:The engine in the 2004 to 2005 Forester XT is identical to the American market Subaru Impreza WRX STi except for using the smaller TD04 turbocharger from the WRX, a smaller intercooler, different exhaust system, and different engine management programming.

So it's a 2006 wrx power plant?

Fair enough it has a STI longblock minus all turbo related stuff.

As for the weight... are you comparing a Forester XT to a WRX Wagon?

Last I remember the WRX is around ~3200 and the Forester is like ~3300 (100 lbs more). Then again I was looking at the slightly newer ones (2006ish).

#3250 FXT
#3290 WRX

Only pounds but it still strikes me odd with the apearce side by side, more glass or lighter interior I guess?
Its the gearing that launch's the FXT out in front of the WRX, modified FXT's are surprising to watch on Youtube.

Not sure where you are getting that info. Per edmunds (which gets it from OEM data):

2006 WRX = Curb weight: 3192 lbs.

And that's an 06, IIRC they were a hint lighter than that before.

FWIW, wiki states the same.

I've been driving my 03 wagon to work, I'll hit one and see actual weight too. Factory numbers may reflect 2 occupants for Fed Safety ratings.
Curb weights of 80's domestics where less occupants but everything these days has occupant margin written in for FMC compliance, semi trucks
are laiden with occupant and 500# equipment per our new Freigtliners.
