What's the story behind the minty z? Anyone know? Looks like he hit something and popped the bead on his tire. Basically unleashed hell on the front passenger fender and wheel.

Pulled this pic from facebook but nobody supplied an explanation. Just tons of hating on stance and stretched tires.

He smacked a curb around 35mph, tried to limp it to someone's house but the tire came off while doing so and destroyed the fender etc etc. Pretty simple lol

Yea, so the stretched tire has nothing to do with it. I like how thats everyones first assumption.

Word. Its cause some people think stretching tire is so satanic and against the very laws of nature that it must and is THE ROOT OF ALL EVIL

Anyway, from earlier.

I love these kind of douchebags. How do you "smack a curb at 35mph"... and not have it enter into your mind that maybe if you had a proper contact patch, you could have avoided it? its not like the curb can jump out and bite your wheel..

even if so, the dude claimed he thought the tire was flat and tried to limp the car home. that was dumb as fuck anyway. lucky he didnt hurt himself or someone else.

that car is pretty E-Famous though in the import world.

wtf lol having stretched tires had EVERYTHING to do with that. I've smacked curbs at 35, with a nice big sidewall on a work truck...drove away just fine.

Yeah, its in one of the hellaflush threads on the mazda forum I still frequent... here was my reply

Ignoring the fact that a properly fitted tire could have protected the wheel from said curb, it also could have aided in the avoidance of said curb in the first place.

It would take a pretty extreme circumstance to say that the stretch didn't at least contribute.

But this is the wrong place to make such a bold statement, so.. I apologize in advance to those of you who disagree.

I'm sure I'll be flamed for saying something so absurd.

nah, I'm sure the curb just jumped out into the middle of the road and bit his wheel. Much more likely story.

def been going on a while, Euro kids been doin it since the early 2000's far as I can remember. I think it looks neat on box VW's and older jap cars like the Cressida. The 350z is the absolute wrong platform. Take a cool car with BIG wheel wells, and put the smallest tire on it wtf?
lol I just hope the home boys don't start putting stretched tires on box caprice's, and the ricers start putting 22's on civics (Wait ive seen that already)

Stretched tires don't look dumb...they ARE dumb. Also the off camber adjustments ruin the suspension. Too much strain on steering parts. This fad is big in Japan and it is taken to extreme by some now. I've seen pics of cars with tires so horizontal, they look like BTTF Deloreans. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GRQ567yQ7UA

So clue me in on this, my buddy told me that they are putting $80 aluminum trailer hitches on imports now. He says his son's friend has this on his Del Sol.

So does this serve a purpose? Are imports ditch prone? Is it a handling mod? lol...

I always though that serious camber was around 3 degrees. Serious use of serious said camber resulted in even tire wear. You can see that are race tracks with turns.

So everyone has a rice story? Guilty.

The first car I bought was a 93 Mazda MX6 AT back in 02', equipped with washer nozzle lights, tire valve lights, awesome 7 color light up dash, limo tint (got pulled over a lot), universal fart can, and last but not least a sound system that included one glorious 10'' sub woofer!

I used to think this car was cool, until I lost 1st and 2nd gear, but I could drive it when I revved up the rpms to catch 3rd! Sweet automatic. Luckily like clockwork when that car crapped out, my new co-worked at the time helped me fix it, guess I totally shaved first gear off, from thinking it was fast, then the rest were following suit, I was up to 3rd! But he also introduced me to this sweet 84 Z28 H/O 5-speed. Needless to say, I sold the Mazda for 4k, bought the Camaro for half of what I sold the Mazda for, and the rest is muscle car history. Never looked back.

12-03-2011, 01:17 AM
I almost bought an Opel Manta, about a 70 I think. I was at some little dealer on 27th and Forest Home. I looked on the wall and there was a pic of the same car up there with tires and wheels outside the body. (Useless early 90s lowrider fad) I turned down the car. Guy was confused and I pointed out that putting tires out that far was a strain on the suspension geometry and the car was useless to me as it was going to be an autocrosser. Looked nice on the lot with it's stock wheels on it but the pic showed it was gonna have trouble trying to align the thing.
