Before you start spouting off at the mouth calling me a magazine mechanic, you need to know some things.

1) I have been in the automotive industry for over 10 total years, 8 of which as a mechanic.

2) I took a wrecked 93 GT vert (hard hit to the left front, bown head gaskets, blown AOD) and did all the body work, rebuilt the transmission, installed a shift kit, replaced the head gaskets, installed the cam, water pump, timing chainect, ignition, headers, exhaust, ect MY SELF WITH NO MANUAL. The car is now in Michigan being driven with no problems by the guy who bought it from me.

3)over the course of 3 years I had a side business that did 4cyl to v8/manual conversions in illinois. Between my self and one of my friends, we did about 30 of these swaps and converted most of them from Speed density to mass air. I would of kept doing it since it was rather profitable, however life took me in a different direction.

4) My 88, 88% of the mods and work done on it was done by me. I did have some help with it considering I didnt have the space to do it (where I was living that was not allowed). Only things that I had someone else do was the gears, trac loc, clutch and the tune.

5) I dont do the work on my current mustang now because lets face it.....working 12 hours a day with sundays only off dosn't afford me much time to get too deep in to projects. I am sure you can understand that.



With that being said, I do have respect for you, however in reference to the thread, I was referring to what your average wqisconsin kid in the state of wisconsin would be getting for 3,000. Yes, Cali cars had the maf in 88, however most 88's in the state of wi are not cali cars. The kind of Mustangs that you would be looking at buying is a lot different from someone who is just getting into the hobby with only 3,000.

Honestly, I dont care what other people think. I really could care less. Yes, I have had help on some of my cars. Two sets of hands are always better than one. As for that whole section of crap quoted from what looks like Pm's; why did you convert cars to run MAF instead of speed density?....from my experience its usually the other way around. I assume they are naturally aspirated and the goal was more drive/tuneability?

You hit it on the head. Speed density on a fox, from what I have read, dosnt respond to head and cam changes very well. That was the next step for the 88, however it was getting to the point where I wasnt able to put the time and the energy to it to get to that point. At the time it was my daily driver and I couldnt afford to have it down for very long. Part of the reason why I sold it. On that car, fiveOnut helped me out with a lot of the conversion, as well as additional mods. It was because of him that I learned how to do it. When it came to that car, he helped me out a lot, either with actually working on the car or with his experience. A lot of what was done to that car, wasnt the same as what you do in a repair garage like a GoodYear.

I was working out of a vintage race shop restoring, rebuilding, and crewing at the track, with those guys in the pic. I mostly handled the paint and body work but I'm not afraid to fuck anything up and at the track you have to do it all. The truck and the Jeep where side jobs for friends.

You see, here is where you fail. You felt like you had to prove something. Like I give a shit. I really couldn't give a rats ass. If I had a garage, time, cash to burn, ect, I am sure that my vehicle would be a lot further too. Oh and just so you know, when I had my fox, that was my only car, and I couldnt really afford to have it down for long to do a major resto/swap....keep believing what you want. Just goes to show how far your head is up your ass.
