View Full Version : Low to no power variables on AR's, 24-32mm objectives.

I dont dare ask this on national forums, ones that I have written DIY stuff on trigger jobs or in depth long range shooting discusions....Im ashamed to ask after years of long range shooting, have been shooting AR's before they were cool.

Whats the attraction to low-no power scopes on AR's when they traditionaly employ backup sights? I cant see using a 1-4x scope at 100+ yards much less a 150-200yard woodchuck shot? I want to setup a scoped 16" barrel with a reflex/red dot/ halo type sight at 1-o'clock keeping the scope at 12-o'clock. I want to downsize from my traditional 6-18x50 for weight and speed handeling but dont want to limit myself from killing small vermin at 300+ yards....thoughts?
