Not much discussion (http://www.syty.net/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=38290) on it yet, the record is pretty hotly contended-for, so I'd be surprised if this guy was beating it and nobody knew about it..

I think the setup he has is awesome, and with nitrous there's no reason he shouldn't be the fastest. Robert in Sweden (www.syclone.org) has gone 9.84 @ 143 about 2 weeks ago, that's the current record. However, if this "bad news" guy doesn't run at least low 9s or high 8s, I'm gonna be disappointed because I've seen so many people make boisterious claims, and they ALL come and go, without proving their claims. This guy's "I'm gonna shatter the record" claim in particular is pretty damn arrogant if you ask me. Once in a while record are broken (not the "I'm gonna beat all of you" claim) but pretty rarely. Hell I hold a record myself, the Stock Turbo record (12.26 @ 108.6 MPH) and I've had a handful of people tell me how they ran within a few tenths "without even trying" and they are "gonna blow me away real soon, next trip to the track, get ready to lose the title", etc. More than a year later the record still stands.

Anyway I do think the turbo 4.3 has more potential than has been tapped so far, I mean it's half a liter on the GNs and we all know how fast they go. The 4.3 doesn't have ANYWHERE near as much R&D and parts as the Buick 3.8 obviously, that's a pretty severe factor, and with a larger bore I think it's more prone to detonation. The 2V pushrod design isn't helping either, compared to our turbo DOHC friends.

Something else to consider is the stock drivetrain, being the most AMAZING drivetrain I've ever seen (besides the tranny), where people are running high 9s at 140+ with stock (and some ORIGINAL) transfer cases, driveshaft, rear end, axles, and front diff and front halfshafts. However it must have a failure point and I wonder if this guy will find out what it is. When that happens it will really suck because this transfer case kicks ASS!! And it would be a shame to hear it can only go "so far" because so far it seems to be bullet proof (who knew?).

I forgot to mention the fastest Syclone of any power is a guy in Colorado "Jason" who put in a carbuereted 350 SBC with a blow through twin turbo setup, with 150HP nitrous. He ran 9.53 @148mph on drag radials. Video here: http://www.northeastsyty.com/videos/ttv8sy[1].avi
