Im looking to buy a gtp 97-01 and having a hard time finding a decent mileage one for a decent price! Are there are any other sites besides craigslist?? Maybe a forum?

I took damn good care of mine and in my honest opinion it went to shit on its own. Rust came from the inside out in multiple spots. Tail lights fogged up. Rear-end sagged. Little electronic things on the dash went goofy. Ignition would randomly not want to turn.

The cars overall build quality (less the motor) was crap.

I myself owned one and several other friends as well. They are very very poorly put together cars. I know the idea of having a supercharged, 4 seat car with decent styling for about $5K sounds nice, but you will put a ton of money into the car. Seals, transmission, brakes, alternator and a body that rusts out.

You'll buy it anyways, but just be prepared, they are high maintenance cars. I put WAY WAY WAY more money into repairs in a shorter period than the whipple cobra. That says a lot.

Yup, an old Chevy Citation would be better...but not by much.

i have had 4 w-bodies, 2 GPs, and 2 Regal GS now and i have little bad to say about them as opposed to other cars i have owned. the driveline is incredibly durable if taken care of. the bodies rusted about the same as any other cars driven in wisconsin in the winter (including a BMW and an Audi) i will say that they are super tempremental, one can run great and have little itty bitty issues, or you can get one that every little thing goes wrong.

I truly think it depends on how it was taken care of since new. You can say all those bad things about any car on the road. My dad has a 2000 gtp since new and hasnt had one of those problems. Then again he doesnt beat the car either and washes and waxes weekly

an 11-12 year old car is going to need maintenance regardless.

A old lady owned mine b4 i got it out of Florida that's why i steered the Buick route so i new i was getting a well maintained non beat on car compared to some younger peoples car that might have been beat on!

You can setup an Autotrader search alert so you're e-mailed when a new car is posted in your criteria.

2000 GTP for sale or trade. Looking for a Buick n/a 3.8 Regal. What's done to the GTP: L32 motor out of a 05 GP 55k, 135k on trans and body, dorman sway bar and trailing arms, 12" brake upgrade, 104 AL plugs, 180* stat, mobil 1 only with oem filter, new headlights. HUD, a/c very cold power heated seat. $3500 as is that needs tires, rear view mirror is discolored, radio display is out but can see it on HUD, gas door hinge is broke. Only issues. $4000 if I fix.

I'm also hoping to find (a GS) that hasn't been modded or beaten on...hopefully being a Buick lends itself to not being that way. Little things are acceptable, I'm used to it only owning cars at least 10 years old.

Thanks for the tip....been on there here and there, doesn't seem to be a ton of them for sale on the site. I wonder on production numbers, I check CL here and there just browsing. Hopefully by spring or summer I'm ready for the jump and find the "right" one.

regalgs isn't your best bet for an unmolested, unmodded GS. your best bet is finding one owned by an older person/couple that lived outside of the city. thats where i found my first one, most of the people just bought the nicest, loaded Regal, which happens to be a GS with a supercharger. sales outside of the city are usually the best, just my opinion.

Good luck with the search. They are out there you just have to be patient for the right one. I have had 3 now and have never had any issues besides the basic maintenance. Actually looking for another one for next year to have a winter and summer ride.

My cousin just sold his 97 GTP. He only ended getting $4300 for it and it only had 69,000 miles. It had light mods, but the car was in as great a shape as the day he got it about 10 years ago.

You can probably find at least a dozen GTP's in the parking lot at any Dave and Busters.

Never been to Dave & Busters yet...so I take it's ghetto? Anything Chrysler has me thinking that. The GTP comment didn't make sense, didn't know they were popular with anyone other than 25-35 year old white males :D .

ok I guys I ended up getting a 2000 bonneville SLE model. The gtp in illinois was beat and needed tires and struts. Also was owned by a 400 pound dude that looked like fat albert so the seats were shot. Now time for yoosef to do some magic with this black beauty. pix to be posted soon.
