I finally broke down and got an Android Phone. Have no clue on this rooting stuff. Once i learn the phone a bit more maybe I will get daring. I would love to have net speeds like that.

I bought a samsung droid charge about 5 weeks ago...."not knowing exactly when the bionic was going to release" 4g is amazing. I can tether my laptop anywhere and it's as fast as being plugged into the wall. I haven't rooted my phone yet.. I'm still tossing around the idea. I cant believe i lived like a pig with an original droid phone for the last 3 years.

tether via usb cable is free... you have to root to enable the wifi hotspot without paying 30/month on verizon (4g only)

I also have the Bionic. Rooted mine and did an sql hack to keep it from checking subscription for wifi hotspot.

How can I root my antique driod 2? I saw the free wifi hotspot app in the market but need to be rooted it says.

I rooted mine same day I bought it. I was just asking if he had his done so he wasnt paying for tether.

Rooting takes about 5-10 minutes. Loading up a new ROM is a different story.

That goes even quicker. AT least on mine it did. I have the samsung fascinate. The rom is call the evil fascinate. Love it.

I only pay 9 dollars more on top of my plan for the tethering. Although i do have a company discount. Maybe that is why.

Nope, just switched to Verizon, though its a corporate account and as such I can get unlimited data.
