The success of the tiny 55g I decided to move to a bigger tank.

So heres the build of the new 120g with a basement sump system.

Refinished the stand:

Tank moved in, noticeable size difference to the 55g.

New corner drains, need these as quiet as possible:

Drain and return plumbed in:

First stages of PVC work. This might change in the future

100g stock tank for sump, refugium, pumps, etc.

I still need to figure out what main pump to run. The drains in the tank will support about 900-1000gph theoretically speaking. So with the 11-12 feet of head I need a pump that will do about 2400gph to supply the tank and the rest of the system and allow for future expansion if I ever wanted to do a frag tank.

So what do you all think?

Actually where the tank sits is directly above the main floor support that runs the length of the house and is supported by the poles in the basement.

that looks awesome! I am going to try to setup a small 55gal saltwater tank in the next month or so. I have way too many aggressive breeding fish and want some colorful fish this time around.

Here is a local forum that has some great members. They give some stuff away for free to help you get going or have the connections to steer you in the right direction.

If you want, the next time they have a meeting Id be more than happy to bring you as a guest.

If you want to hang on for a few months, Id sell you my complete 55g setup when I get the new tank running which if you search my threads you will see, minus the rock and coral.

Is that a 40 breeder? If so, I would just want the tank unless the stand is decent.

Wow thats nuts. I still have my 90 Gal awaiting to be setup (currently have a 55gal setup for years). Did you make the stand yourself? If so, details please? I assume you made a ez-drain/flush for tank flushes? I would insulate the pipes in the basement as well.

Sweet setup!

40 gallon acrylic. 40-50 lbs of live rock, 20lbs of live sand, a shrimp (peppermint I think,) two large brittle starfish, assorted snails and crabs and a ton of tiny starfish; various polyps and other things growing in the tank. Rena XP1, I forget what the light is, rena heater that works with the filter, reverse osmosis filter for making water, refactometer, liquid test kit. Custom oak stand and cover. I'd like to sell it as a package.

It's dirty as fuck and I need to take a Saturday and clean it up and do a water change.

And a few changes to the sump system. I wont be using the 100g stack tank thats a few posts above but a cut down 250g tote I got from work. Next to it is a regular 54g drum
