Wheel acid :p

Otherwise try undiluted degreaser and a non-abrasive brush.
Fine steel wool will work as well, use at your own discretion.

first of all, what kind of wheels are they and how is the surface?
are you looking for just a daily cleaner or trying to remove embeded brake dust like this \/
http://www.brewcitymuscle.com/albums/album58/DSCN1374.sized.jpg

for everyday brake dust, diluted simple green will work fine but for more stubborn caked in crud most store bought stuff is a joke. THIS STUFF WORKS GREAT ON ALL RIMS (http://www.detailedimage.com/wax.php?id=13767&url=detailedimage.com/P21S-M14/Gel-Wheel-Cleaner-P86/500-ml-Kit-S1/) from light to medium buildup and goes along way! For serious heavy crud and build up of brake dust on outer rim and inside hoop, THIS STUFF IS PRETTY MUCH UNBEATABLE.

If you want quick fast and not too worried about how the finish may look afterwards or if the clear coat is already beat up, you can wash with soap and water then take a magic eraser dipped in SOAPY WATER and with light to mild pressure wipe out the wheel. You may need a little polish afterwards to get a gloss back but you WILL want to put some wax over the wheels to protect from elements after using a magic eraser.

I used the Sonax on this wheel and you can see that even the inside hoop is cleaned.\http://www.brewcitymuscle.com/albums/album58/DSCN1392.sized.jpg

Lysol Basin, Tub & Tile cleaner (aerosol) or Scrubbing Bubbles (aerosol). Neither work very good below 50° and the Lysol version works much better.

Are you sure you didn't just repaint those wheels ,they were pretty ugly.

What product did you use to shampoo interior? still smells good months later.

Yoo what about big deposits of brake dust? I've tried a few different things with little luck.

shoot me a pic. If your wheels are in decent shape and you want them to look their best regardless of driving habits, I would suggest the P21S gel. The Sonax is nearly unbeatable in all conditions plus it is ph balanced and non acidic so it is safe for ALL wheels and carbon pads/rotors.

Ok will do in the AM. I also bought another brush and some of the hot wheels stuff dave recommended. I tried using that AtoZ wheel cleaner or whatever it is.

I've always had good luck with S100 Wheel Cleaner Gel. You can buy it at pretty much any Harley-Davidson dealer right off the shelf.

Ordered Sonax after seeing this, that shit is Awesome! It took 99.9 of the stuck on crap off with little effort. I still have a few tiny black specks that seem burned in to the powder coat, but the pads that come on my car are notorious for doing that. Thanks again best stuff I've ever used!

Must not work on cars that people are scared to race other cars with.

Where do YOU get it from? I'd like to get some. I usually just use Simple Green. I'd like something stronger but not acid based.

Also man, try getting some pads with minimal break dust, It know its a stretch but every little bit helps, I used to get those cheapo AutoZone pads for my bimmer and the break dust would cake up like mad. Spent alittle more on better pads and the difference was noticeable, a little less scrubbing, just a little, lol.
