Im having a hard time getting my rear tire setup straightened out.
I measured my backspace

@ 3.5"

Then I cut a dowel to simulate clearance. AFter some trimming, I got a size of 4.5" with decent clearance on top of that for bulge in the tire

This would give me like 8" of backspacing (everything else being the same). The company I'm dealing with only goes up to 7" of backspace it seems. Did I miss something here?

I did a quick drawing of my mental math. Maybe its not right, but hopefully it helps.

Excuse the "fenderer" misspelling lol.

if you are going with a 12" rim and a stock width rear axle...YES you will have ALOT of backspacing... but your tire width is still the major concern for clearence...

edit: I would go with the 7" backspace with the additional half inch over stock on the front side. You plan on running a low pro tire? some sidewalls will deflect quit a bit during cornering....

edit edit: what diameter rim too? looks like a 15 with that backspacing won't clear your drums

Its going to be a 15" wheel, with the exception of the e-brake cable (will be fully removed) the drum has about 1/3" clearance to the rim.
So you would do the 15x12 @ 7" BS? I have not ordered tires yet, but I had looked at MT' as well as thing like the drag slick take-offs. Its going to be a beadlocked wheel so tire changes should be easy enough :)

edit; The rear will be converted to disc at some point in the future as well.

called them; they said they would do up to a 9" backspacing for me on a 15x12 beadlock if I asked nice enough....at less than $200 per wheel I can't complain.
Should I take the deeper offset? The concern for me MIGHT be the coil spring, but the car will get coilovers eventually so thats not the end of the world.

So it looks like right now it will be 15x12 @ 8" backspacing should be correct. I need to figure out my tire situation to check final clearances. Suggestions? I was mainly looking at the MT ET streets, they aren't cheap but I'm not sure if any tires in that size are. Not trying to be pushy for help but im down to the wire on ordering some of this shit.
