47yr old mechanic with several crushed bones over the years, back pain on damp days like today are unbarable, elbow/ joint pains ect. Daily aches and pain today are so bad im leaving work shortly even tho I cant afford too.

Regular doctor says see a pain managment doctor, made several calls and getting the feeling the feild is narrow? I know Percocet and others work great, highly doubt holistic needles will cure me but willing to try.

Any suggested doctors apreciated.

Generally I advocate going to a pain management guy not after a general practitioner tells one to go, but after a specialist of the affected area tells one to go (ie, if it's back pain, the advice to go by a back specialist, so on and so forth).

I can say that there are a few pain management guys to avoid, as there are some that no matter the cause, they'll offer the cure so to speak, whether they actually can or can't. It's the whole "when all you have is a hammer...everything looks like a nail" conundrum.

But the field has grown in leaps and bounds in the last 10 years, and there are some really top notch guys who are excellent diagnosticians that you could see, and they'll be quite honest in saying whether or not they're able to help. I play cards with a couple orthopods and a back guy...I can see who their favorites are in the PM field and let you know.

Left ankle/ foot, broken in several places in 2.5 story fall.
Right elbow, broken, socket saved thru surgey (same fall).
3 Broken ribs right side thru same accident.
Right center finger/ hand, crushed by 4 yard steel bucket (several minutes pinned).
Right wrist (carpal type pain for 3yrs or so).
Right elbow like tennis elbow, possible related to above accident.
Upper and lower back pains, muscle's, location depends on work or weather.
Back pains so bad I went to ER a few weeks ago thinking I had a heart attach.

So unless I find a "complete body" physician I can only hope they use the "hammer any nail" repair.
I've been working thru this stuff for years, its reaching the point I just cant do it anymore.

What ever you do stay away from Dr Ahuja and Dr Hollowell. Dr Ahuja is my "back specialist" and I'm not really happy. After finding out he just was be charged for tax fraud I realized why him and is office attitude changed after I oppted not to try surgery. When I first started seeing him my pain was super bad he wanted me to keep working. Now another Dr he sent me to for my shots questioned why Dr Ahuja was wanting me to work in the condituon I was In. He also expressed that I should change my profession with in the next year or I would end up being more immobile. So in march the work comp insurance stop my benefits and now I'm fighting them in court. What is really fucked up is I went to Dr Ahuja for him to fill out my PPD percentage form and he totally screwed me on everything. No restrictions and a max 75 lb lift limit. Reason why I'm pissed is if the courts find I'm not capable of returning to my line of work I can get schooling funding. Having 5 bad discs and how bad my back still is I know in my heart I can't me a mech anymore. Sorry for babbling on but I've been so stressed out lately.
So back to OP, try calling my pain management place call Advance Pain Management I see Dr Sani. Good Dr and tells you how its is. The office number is 414-325-3779
Good luck.
