It looks like this:

Then this happened:

Bought these tires used for $75 and they lasted 6 months. Woooo.

Mostly the truck is driven on roads, it's used to tow once or twice a year, and it goes offroad probably once every two months. (I got it stuck twice on those POS Steeltex).

So, wondering if anyone has either a recommendation for a decent, cheaper tire that would work well for me, or a source for used tires that will work for me.

Size: Those are 265/75/16. Looking at 265/75/16, 285/75/16, or 33x12.5x16 or similar.

Okay, I'm looking on tirerack, and I have a more specific question:

265/75/16 in Load range D or E

or

285/75/16 in Load Range D

Leaning towards the 285's for the stance, but not looking forward to possibly losing fuel milage and towing stability from dropping a load range...but then again, E range tires are pretty much overkill on a half ton truck anyways...

I'd go wider... but thats me. I'm pretty much always trying to get as much rubber under my vehicles as I can. if you did more towing I'd worry about it more.

From what I've read, 285/75 is pushing the limits on what you can do with stock body and suspension.

I like these.

The 285's will rub with the torsion bars cranked up so be prepaired to cut or smash some bumper/fender to prevent this. Now if you dont care about that then go for the 285's they will kill your milage in the city but will give you better hwy

Thanks for the heads up. I did the cab mounts a while ago:

I guess I could always slide another hockey puck in there for a little body lift. :)

So, $600 on tirerack, $94 for shipping, figure $60 for installation...

Anyone got a tire shop they'd like to recommend that could possibly beat $760 installed?

Well, after getting two quotes, $900 and $1045, I went ahead and ordered them.

I'll probably just pick a shop to mount and balance em. Hopefully the blown out rim isn't damaged. Thanks guys.

Wally-world sells a house brand 265x75r16E for cheap, for future reference. They change manufacturers periodically, the Uniroyal ones are pretty good.

Bare in mind your speedo will no longer be accurate.

Eh, I'm not too concerned, it wasn't accurate to begin with...and it's not accurate in any other vehicle I own. hah.
