I had heard this guy was down to earth, but wow. Its hard to process how cool a guy can be despite getting hassled driving that car around like that. I was careful to not to try and impose on him, and I left with an appreciation for that guys tact.

Seeing that car in person is amazing. Listening to his stories was equally as entertaining.

Super cool guy :thumbsup

who?

Guy with a bunch of Ferrari's in the area, you might see him commonly in his F40.

He's real nice and has lots of stories to tell. I don't think there's anything wrong with rocking the F40 on a regular basis, whats the point of a car if you aren't going to drive it?

What I like, (and can also be frustrating about him) is he often rather talk about YOUR ride...he'll sit there asking question/etc all the while you're trying to find out more about thef40, lol. It's a very good quality about him really.

I would like to know how he deals with the goat trails that we call roads in such car.

Nice meeting you too last night. I'll let you know when my nittos need to be changed. They'll probably last through the summer if I don't go E85. If I do, might be calling you the next weekend :rolf

Jim is a very kind and down to earth guy that is a blast to talk to as he has some awesome stories!

His car collection is substantially higher than $5-million as the 166 is pretty much that alone. The LM cars are nuts!

Did he ever complete the TVR carbon chassis with the W12 and Viper LeMans sequential trans?

first time i saw him was when that idiot "GLOWIN" kid in the LT1 convertable camaro was driving around with an underbody kit and a big shot of spray. He drove like a complete arse to catch up to Fuchs, and man, did the guy just TOY with that kid. I truly don't think that Glowin kid knew what an F40 was.

Yeah, there's still a few out there not on the list. do we call this 'the basics'?
A fun list would be what he's driven... or NOT driven

It was in the showcase, and just came back to Motion for some work. It'll prob head back to ferrari disneyland once done.

Doubt it. Unless your car can show Tri with the GTR tail lights, I highly doubt you will have a chance with the f40.

Tri's car in a 1/4 race against a F40 wouldn't be much of a race as try has ATLEAST a full second on the F40.

Jim is a GREAT guy, talk to him quite a bit. always fun to shoot the shit with him.

I have seen them go from a roll, and that f-40 was right with him....

Speaking of Tri, saw him leaving the gas station on Hwy and Oklahoma on sunday.....damn that is a nice car.

So what would that F40 run 1/4 mile? Never thought they were that fast. LOL I went to grade school and middle with his son Chad....I remember hearing he lifted the cover on one of the cars once and the old man went through the roof!

Really! What does an F40 run in 1/4? WHO THE HELL CARES! That's the last thing that car was built for.

this was as tested in 1992....

Seriously chill the f out? It was just an honest question to see how much power the car has, I obviously know it wan not built for the drag strip!

I'm putting down 600rwhp, and will be putting down 700rwhp soon with E85. I tried asking I think it was Todd, with the Z06 what it had done to it and it seemed stock. If its stock he is seeing my tail lights =) I can't imagine too many people modding such an iconic car, not that I have anything against that.

from what i know/remember the car has differant exhaust manifolds and or exhaust on the car. and custom wheels.

I just did the calculations and it would be a lot closer than I thought but it looks like I might have him by a cunt hair. I didn't think they were a thousand pounds lighter, but that IS the case. I figured it might be like 500lbs lighter.

So in order to really blow doors I'll need E85. I seriously could die a happy man running that car 40-140.

I don't know...curb wt per C&D for an 03 SVT cobra = 3738lbs
http://www.caranddriver.com/var/ezflow_site/storage/original/application/08409261b9ceb9168ee91ec940ada27b.pdf

vs

2400lbs of the F40...that's a pretty big difference in wt.

I would think a race from a roll, especially against a car that'll top 200 mph as the f40 can, it might surprise you. I still give the edge to the f40....

Alls I knos is I'd pay to see that race!

I did notice his car doesn't seem to grab any traction because he's running stock"ish" tires. DRs would do wonders for that car. I noticed the couple times I've seen that car it likes to spin.

But the only solution I see here is to start ordering parts for E85 =)

That and figure out what the hell is causing so much variances in my dyno runs. If the car gets heat soaked that bad I might have to run a 50-100 shot just to cool down the intake charge when its muggy out.

Saw your car at oscars- looked sharp.

power to weight ratio and aerodynamics are going to give it to the F40 in the end. (drag co-efficient). If a *safe-er* place for straightline was suitable around here, he'd run up to 200. That car's built for those speeds and he takes them there. (200+mph at Fontana, CA in his 79 BBLM) Another factor- seasoned and holding a Grand Am competition license.

F40 vs the GTR would be a fun one to watch. Tri taking it on the low end and then getting reeled in on the way to the big end. Then ice cream afterwards

It would be fun, but there would be no reeling in ;) The GTR is a BEAST.:burnout

Just like everyone has said, he is a great guy, and fun to cruise around with.

Seen the GTR at the track last week Wednesday.

Jim graciously took me for a ride in his F40 several years ago. Obviously never being in a vehicle of the sort before I didn't know what to expect. Without a doubt I was VERY impressed on the freeway and moorland rd corkscrew off/on ramps (prior to the construction). It truely was an experience that I will never forget for many reasons.

Say Hi next time ;) I don't really know many of the members on here and am always apprehensive to walk up to groups because I never know if its people that are all around cool or just your off the shelf "I have a heads and cam car and spray in rush hour traffic" types.

Jim on the other hand, I've heard about the guy and seen the car of years and just couldn't pass up the opportunity when I saw him sitting. He was way more down to earth than I thought.
