LS1 Complete motor...what are they going for?

On a website I am a member on, there is a guy selling a complete ls1 motor with all the accessories/harness, etc for $1800 obo. I want to possibly shoot him an offer on it but before I do, I turn to you guys for advice. I am looking at possibly ditching my 355 carb setup in my 85 camaro and putting the ls1 with a t56 in it's place. Thanks for any advice.

Well what year/miles is this setup? id say if it came with a transmission it might be a decent deal... but those damn T56's are demanding stupid prices individually right now! Id say 1500 or so is more like it for a 50k mile stock 01+ LS1 with everything sans a trans. Plan on 1200 for a T56 right now too unless you buy a jacked up one and rebuild it.

99 with ls6 heads. 40k miles ran good. I don't mind buying a trans for 1200 later. So if I offer $1500 for the motor that's a fair deal?
