I will be running it a little harder this year and I know the motor has around 4k on it, Mobil 1 5w 30 has been used since day one. All of last year I burned hardly any oil, I know my motor is tight but I was just reading online about a few oil threads and I was surprised no one for the turbo 4cylinder application was running 5w 30...

Some guys talked about Rotella and ams-oil....

I will be breaking in a new turbo so the thought crossed my mind what I want to run through it for the 1st time, and whatever I choose may improve the life of the internals/rings of my motor.

Thoughts ?

I would run the 5w30 the.5 is just cold start up weight. Do a Google search and than make up your mind. Thicker oil is for wider bearing clearance. Murray lotus we don 5w20

Last year I didn't add any oil even on the month of really beating the shit out of it at 14lbs of boost, one thing I'm surprised on is the limited Blow By this engine has, even at night time when headlights are behind me and I punch it there really isn't a ploom of smoke.

Than I think you answered your own question. Why switch than?

If it ain't broke why fix it.

Overall it depends on the tolerance of the engine. If it is a tight engine and the pressure looks good with 5w-30 then I'd keep running that. People always seem to think "bigger is better", when there isn't much science behind it.

Yea the oil pressure looks great on my engine and factory calls for 5-20 so that's likely what I will run.
