Anyone own or handled one of these?
http://hammerbackguns.com/images/WHX1045R.jpg

I'm really liking this as a possibility for my new carry gun, but the exposed hammer and beaver tail (i think thats what you call it) look like snag points. My current Taurus 24/7 ProDS doesn't have either of these, and is very easily drawn...problem is that its a bit big for pocket carry .
I also have decently sized hands, and don't like "3 fingering" a gun.

Para's don't have the greatest rep from what I heard. Check out some 1911 forums.

ive also read that the shorter 1911 style pistols tend to have alot of FTF or FTE problems...

Unless you really want .45 ACP, check into one of these: Kimber Solo (http://www.kimberamerica.com/solo)

I'm going to try and find one locally and if I like the trigger, I'll start price shopping.

Gotcha. How about one of Kimber's Super Carry designs, or a Glock 30 or SA XD45 Compact? The Kimber Super Carry Ultra+ is pretty pricey, but it offers a 3" barrel with a full size grip frame and a bunch of custom touches like a rounded heel (think Ed Brown Bobtail) carry melt treatment and factory night sights.

thats a nice piece. I really like the full size grip on the short gun, my fat hands would appreciate it. The price tag is kind of a bitch tho. I'll check out the other two as well.

Springfield also makes a nice subcompact 1911

I checked out the Kimber, and I do like it. The pricetag is still kind of a bitch on that one tho. I'm hoping to find something under $600...but I can't always put a price on my life.

I wouldn't carry anything that pricey. That be a hit to the wallet if it got confiscated, or lost/stolen. Personally I won't spend more than $500.

Only to spend as little as possible. I have been looking at 38 revolvers. But that's just my personal preference. There's a lot available for under $450. The best thing you can do is get something that you're comfortable with.
