Private track rental from one of father's business friends. He invites all of his clients and friends out to the track. LOTS of Corvettes, lots of GT500's, etc... Not as "high caliber" as it had been in the past. The weather scared off ALOT of guys, but we were blessed with an incredible day. Not too often you get to go to a place like this and figure a brand new '11 STI is a cheap ass car compared to these other things.

Overall, the STI handles INCREDIBLE on the track. It's a stock car, so it's got alot of body roll. But overall, I am very happy with the car. I can keep more speed through the corners than some of the new Mustang GT's and Cobra's and new Camaro SS cars, so i can stay with them really well on the long straights. Towards the end of the straights though they are pulling on me.

Can get 120+ on the front straight, can get to 120 on the back straight into turn 5, carrying through the carousel I can set entry at 60 and keep it accelerating through and when I exit I'm 80+ and then set up nice for the kink. Car does push a little bit, but overall very stable.

Wish I would have had suspension and an intake/downpipe/etc... There was another stock '10 STI hatch there with some suspension mods and he was doing pretty good. ANother '11 STI sedan was there with some suspension stuff and stage 2 and he was flying pretty good.

There was a guy in a F430 Spyder that coming out of turn 6 got loose and almost lost it into the wall. Got into the grass but kept it straight and kept it about 2 ft from the wall. If I can the video uploaded from when I was driving the SL you'll see me come through turn 6 and then the Ferrari is hopping back on the track.

Driving the SL63 was a dream. Didn't do the paddle shifters, just let it shift itself. There is a setting for the autoshifting that's a "sport +" and it actually rev matches on the downshift which was pretty cool. That was 145 up the front straight IF I could keep enough speed through the last turn and stomp on the brakes heading into turn 1. At normal, it was right under 140. Could get to almost 140 on the back straight into turn 5 as well. Was ALOT of fun, but it is definitely not a race car, just a nice enjoyment to be racing around.

Overall, i blistered the stock tires for the STi pretty good, haha, so I was really humping it on there. Didn't experience any issues thanksfully. Overall, a good day. Girlfriend came with, got her motion sickness going pretty good. She was a real sport and had alot of fun. She's got a bunch of pictures as well.

Here's some other cars -

More pics and vids to come. Dad had the GoPro in his AMG so that film should be cool. I had my little camera strapped to a headrest, so we'll see how that turns out.

Cool to see you used your STI for what it was built for. The race track. For a stock car 120 is a good speed for the straights. In my MK3 Supra I did 140ish on the front straight. But that was 6 years ago. Nice Subby BTW.

Yeah, the car took whatever I threw at her. Did very well. I was actually very suprised. Had the DCCD setup like recommended on the forums, and it was great. More rear bias and coming out of the corners it would get a bit loose to help with the push at mid corner. People behind me would come up and ask if I ever touched the brakes. I always set my speed coming into the corner and was accelerating through it. So they'd only catch the glimpse of the brake lights and then see me pull away in the corner. They'd all catch up on the straights with the double my HP, haha, but was fun to have them make that comment. Guess the bike stuff rubs off onto the cars. Set the speed and then accelerate through.

The STI pictured above isn't mine. Was a different one and he was flying pretty good as well. It's the one I was talking about in first post with some mods

Pulling in and letting Dad out because he got sick to his stomach. "Chris, your a great driver. You aren't wreckless. But I'll be damned if that thing just doesn't stick in the corners. I need to get out cause I'm feeling woozy"

These are just a bunch of small ones. The large videos take awhile to upload as it's about 20-25 min. I don't have any vids from the GoPro yet. (Can watch these in HD, but they are just short little clips)

Dam lots of nice cars there. How'd the brakes hold up?

Held up great. Later in the day they had a SLIGHT bit of extra pedal effort needed, but worked flawlessly. I'm very happy with it.

Do you know who brought the black ZR1?

Unfortunately, youtube has a limit now on the size file. So with the HD, they are only like 3 min clips. When I get back home I'll be uploading them. Any other site that takes larger uploads of videos?

As for the ZR1, that may have been the CEO of Faith Technologies, otherwise his might have been the blue Vette in the picture above the black one

Nice! I would recommend bleeding the brakes at least enough to get the burnt up fluid out of the calipers.
