Looking for a few graphing calculators. Planning on an "Intro to Using a Graphing Calculator" for some of my 7th graders that will be taking math at the high school next year. They will need to get one for next school year, but I would like to show them how to use them (besides how to play games).

I know I can go buy a bunch of new ones, but rather not spend $100+ for each calculator if I can instead find some used ones. Figured maybe some members have some sitting around since high school or college.

Thanks!

I still have my Casio... it's in color! I got it cuz I wanted to be different lol. You can have it but I'm sure it needs batteries.

I sold my old TI-85 on ebay this winter finally, only got $10 or so for it, IIRC. Worked fine, just needed new batteries.

Do you have a TI-83 plus at all? I'd like to have all the same to keep it easier on myself. :goof

holy crap that's a deal. haha

only downside with the graphing calculators is that they've become so powerful and able to do so much programming, schools like MSOE don't allow you to use them when doing quizzes/exams because of the ability to program to finish a problem for you, haha.

but obviously at this level it's awesome to get them to see how they work! great idea michelle

I'd recommend finding TI-83+ for your students, short of the platinum ones its about as high as they let you use in college math classes for quizzes and tests, so its the one they might as well learn to use. I've had mine since middle school and still use it in my finance classes all the time for quizzes and tests.

That is a deal. If I can grab a couple more TI-83+, I might pick yours up for myself. (:

The TI-89 is two tools in one...

1. Answer machine
2. Video game... to keep you from actually paying attention.

You really need a TI-89 in college. Otherwise, you'll never finish an exam in time.
