Need help diagnosing an intermittent stalling issue with 91 Escort 1.9l.

Shortly after getting an oil change the car began stalling at random times. I looked around and found a plug wire that was hanging then to find out the book broke, so I replaced the set and it cured it for about a day then began to stall again. Usually happens when slowing down for a light or driving through the intersections seems to be when it likes to stall out.

Anyone know of any known problem areas that cause stalling on these cars(91 Escort with 1.9l)? I dont want to simply toss parts until I stumble on the fix. Thanks!

honestly, that sounds like a mafs issue or a vaccum leak...I would try cleaning the mafs with the spray and just quickly run over and check the connections on other wires under the hood and listen for a vaccum leak..check your BMAP and TPC, my bros had a problem with the tpc and it wouldnt deliver fuel correctly and it would cause it to stall, usally in intersections also..

Yoo, do you have an idle problem as well? Is there any hesitation? If so, I would check the intake tube behind the Mass Air for any cracking/cuts. This is rather common (I had three GT's of that vintage, as well as a 91lx with your engine). Other possible causes of this is the EGR elbow or the IAC motor.

Just after oil change, probably MAF issue because they took the cover off to check the filter and didn't disconnect the sensor wire. Probably pulled a pin loose on the connector. Check the MAF housing wiring harness to see if all the pins are inserted to the same depth. They jacked my old Legacy at Scrub-A-Dub and I had to reset the pins.

My wife had a 95 tracer (escort) 1.9 and there was this one vacuum line that would always become disconnected when you went digging around by the air filter box. If I remember correctly, it ran to a spherical vacuum canister located in the front driver side area near the air box.
