Brand new, ridden once, on pavement.

http://www.trekbikes.com/au/en/bikes/mountain/singletrack_trail/fuel_ex/fuel_ex_5#

This is the exact bike. Paid $1700 3 months ago, sacrifice for $1200.

Need to sell fast. Also have a brand new hitch mount 2 bike, bike rack. Fits smaller hitch or 2" with included adapter. Was $175, $100 for just that, free if you buy bike.

Want to upgrade already, made a poor buying decision for my frame size, want to get a top fuel.

Nobody interested in this bike? You can't touch a brand new fuel for under $1500. Am I asking to much? Let me know, I want to move it.

Just upgraded to Avid Elixr Code R brakes. Bigger discs, better stopping power. Bike has about 15 miles on it. Brand new condition. $1000.

Any leads on a decent trailer for it? Also, is the track studded?

badass88gt
08-22-2011, 01:12 PM
Can't really help with a trailer, the track is not studded. After thinking a little more I really need to check the sled out and make sure it all is still ok, I haven't looked at it since last fall. I would hate to have someone interested in it only to pull the cover off and find something wrong.

Have any use for a brand new in-the-box Kohler whirlpool tub? I'd be interested in a trade. check my classified ad for more info. The tub retails for over $2k.

$850 is my final price. Need room in my garage to finish projects. Perfect condition. Someone should buy this if they are considering buying a full suspension bike. You won't find one this nice at this price.

What size rider is the 18.5" frame for?

Bobby "Big Daddy" Flay
01-08-2012, 08:08 PM
6' to 6'2" usually

pOrk
01-08-2012, 08:13 PM
Inseam is more important then overall height when sizing a bike, I'm 6' and ride a 19" frame but I am comfortable on a 17.5 as well. Also on a 19" I need a short stem, but on a 17.5 a longer stem is much better.

Bump for a good deal

A friend of mine linked this to me because I am looking for a bike, and I registered on the site to reply because I want to purchase the bike. You aren't sending it to Africa and waiting for a check. I'll bring cash when I come get the bike, so I don't see what the problem might be.

I still have this bike. No people that have 2 posts, or someone who wants to see it in x weeks. Want gone, already replaced it, could use the cash now. Make reasonable offer.

Did this bike ever sell? I realize this is going on a couple years old now...

05caddyext

Yeah bike sold quite awhile ago. Got $800 for it I believe. I do have another 29er for sale right now. 2013 Trek Mamba. According to Bicycle Blue Book it's worth $696 in excellent condition, for a BCM member I'd take $650 without the Raceface bars. I'd really like to get $700 with them. Bars cost about $70 plus $45 in labor to install them. Had them cut down, they were really wide.

05caddyext

And in case anyone is wondering, Bicycle Blue Book is what Wheel and Sprocket uses as its Bible when appraising trade-ins, there are literally thousands of bikes on there.

you paid $45 for install on the bars? ouch, what is special about them. I have a mamba too and it is a fantastic bike. glws

05caddyext
04-07-2014, 10:02 AM
That is the shop labor rate for 1 hour of labor. Takes a while to get everything set up correctly. They have you test them at full length, they were too wide for my liking, so I needed them cut. So everything is removed, bars placed in jig, cut. Replace all hardware, ride again. Everything needs to be torqued, I don't have an inch lb torque wrench either. I thought the $45 was reasonable for the amount of actual time that went into getting them right.

inch pound torque wrench to install bars? GTFOH

05caddyext
04-10-2014, 08:33 PM
Id rather not take a chance having my brake levers move when I'm going down a hill at 25mph hitting rocks and logs. I don't build bikes for a living, they do, so I paid. Plus, like I said, they needed to be cut first. I didn't want to take a chance screwing up my brand new bars by cutting them wrong or over tightening something on them.

05caddyext
04-10-2014, 10:10 PM
brake levers get torqued from 28 in lbs to 80 in lbs depending on brand and type of bar. So you certainly need a quality inch pound torque wrench for the job.

Doh just saw it sold,

With your shock mounted vertical do you have any of the dreaded "pogo" effect when you start climbing a hill.

I never had a problem with my FSR but have tried similar deigns and found it annoying.

05caddyext
04-24-2014, 10:34 PM
I did not like the bike at all that's why I sold it. I never got used to the suspension, I have always either ridden a full rigid frame, or front fork only suspension, never full. If never had any issue with the suspension because I didn't put enough miles on it to really get a feel for it. I just knew immediately after a few rides that it wasn't for me. My thinking was that it would be a lot less rough on my body having rear suspension also. I have had surgery on both shoulders, and both knees, and I wanted something to be a little easier on my body, yet be able to really ride hard on the trails. I never felt comfortable on the full suspension, so I dumped it at a huge loss. I had over 2k in that bike.
