I knew this location was on the chopping block but did not know it was already gone. I have many great car show memories from the 'early days' but also many not so great memories towards the end of its 'hay day'. Glad to see a change, I never liked the 'Solid Gold' theme and all the 'crap' inside.....

They always sent me (in the Z) to the back parking lot. My buddy and I showed up in his '31 roadster (which is rather patinaed), but rebuilt mechanically in every possible way....they kicked us out of the front parking lot because "front lot is for painted vehicles only"

My kid and I used to go there all the time on Wednesdays. Last year was just sad, only went a couple times. Hardly any cars and some of the ones that were there were no better/different than something you'd see in a Pick n save parking lot on an average day.

I was the unofficial "official car artist" there for many years since the late 80s. Met most of my friends there. True, the last couple of years saw a decline of service and fun. Most due to the new owners not spending the money for the car show and then hiring the lowest common denominator help.

Lived down the street from solid gold for over 2 years with 2 kids & in the first two years I NEVER received fresh fries! Finally started asking for fresh fries and told them I will wait. That place sucked balls for service and food prep.

Hopefully with the new building will come new brains.
