Is it worth it?

I am looking at a 2000 Trans am, ls1, automatic. Has 130xxx miles on it. Body is pretty decent, and the car is basically stock. It has a noise, the owner thinks squeaky lifter. I could probably get it for around $3500. I know nothing about these cars. Is it worth it? Should I hold off for something else? I don't want to spend much since someday(not soon) this car will be torn apart to be made into a drag car, but until then, I would want to drive it.

it says automatic. So its a A4. And i agree the motor has a good chance of being shot. The nice thing about that tho is you can get a 6.0 from a newer truck and it will bolt in for a replacement on the cheap

Good idea, there are 4th Gen F-bodies floating all around the place, just keep looking. Cheaper than dirt too.

it's not hard to do the engine swap in those things.

i believe there is a drag car roller on chitown, a pewter T/A w/ a 9" that's about the same price or a bit more. forgot exactly so dont quote me on it, but was in really nice looking shape
