Fresh restore not a show car by any means but a nice looker / driver. Planning on slamming it with a narrowed beam up front, possibly a deck or roof rack interior bamboo rack and a stereo. Pretty excited to see the car, had a good friend go check the car our for me and he bought it for me. Heres a few pics:

That's cool. I was considering a Beetle.
From what I here they are pretty easy
to work on, and simple cars.

That's a nice bugg. Bring it to the Concours VW show in June.

Did your buddy drive it ?

Most people don't realize these things scream in the RPM range, some were only meant to go 50-60 due to the gearing. I drove one and 1st gear was useless and 2nd was so quick, main reason I didn't buy it !!!

Great looking car. You don't bag a vintage bug. Slam it for sure but don't bag it. Narrowed and dropped swing arm, polished Porsche 914 wheels or Empi five spokes, a merged exhaust with single outlet tailpipe, the roof rack and it would be perfect. Nice score

Yup, it went 60 no problem in 3rd gear so it might have the freeway flyer trans, hoping so. Its a 4 spd, and these cars stock had a hell of a time getting up to 60 and this one does it no problem so I'm not too worried. Going to drop a 2000 cc engine in it this winter if I can work a deal out with a local guy that has a built one fs...

Sounds good...

The one I drove had like a 2100 or something beefeed up, and it was a 1965. Best year !!!

Bagging on of these cars looks like a huge pain in the ass, looks like an adjustable beam is the best way to make this car look good. Bamboo tray, possibly a rack, and some cool bolt ons and I should have a hell of a fun car for this summer

I looked at a few of them local and gave up quick, for some reason the people that own these cars in Wi are nothing short of delirious. Rust free means no rust in my book, but to these people it means no rust on dashboard or something. The junk thats for sale here is ridiculous.

I think I found a guy to bring the car back and for CHEAP so hopefully that works out and I can spend the rest of my cash on cool stuff for the bug.

Bug love here. My first car was a '69 kit car. Get a '71-up Dual Port motor and a weber set up! Sweet ride!

Yes, you have to watch rust on these. I was looking at a Super Beetle here in Muskego but at $2200, it was way over priced.

Theres a nice super beetle in west allis for sale for 2200, he will take 2 grand for it. The supers just don't get the money that the pre 67's get and I want to be able to sell the car easier down the road so I stuck it out for an older one. That and the suspension on the supers is garbage to work with when trying to lower it and maintain SOME ride quality.

I'm not a purist on these things, and I think they look best when done in the Cali style (not the Euro). Bag it, keep the wheel size reasonable, and put a nice stereo in it. Cruise the shit out of it.

I'd love to get a bug again. When I bought mine it had a stuck valve and no brakes or wheel bearings (it had been sitting in a field for 12 years). We had it running and driving in under a week. SO easy to work on, and it was fun as hell to drive. Out of curiosity what did you bag it for? And that 2 grand Super sounds like a nice toy... too bad I have enough going on right now.
