just happened to pop onto his site today and saw that he has converted his car to AWD. Quite impressive.

Hmm, I guess that was his traction solution he was talking about. That must be why he has been so quiet lately. 70 hours is quick for that. :wow

I bet he starts breaking stuff now.

AWD can be a bit more fragile thats for sure. Though going from a roll should be OK on the driveline. We'll have to see what kind of luck he has with it. :thumbsup

from a roll. i think he did this so he does not have to go from a roll. i think i want a roll now :banana

rather impressive work i must say. i want this guy in my corner for fab work.
great job guys.

now just take off the front wheel part so your using less hp. :shades

good luck lets see some good 60ft times. how much hp does all wheel drive rob from the combo?

Do any of you have any direct experience with DSM AWD cars? I like to see a race between Jason(AWD ver1.0) and Mark. Jason still has 10+ psi to play with....

jbiscuit

Mark: I know he did it to gain traction from a dead stop, duh. But I heard he was having wheenspin/traction issues from a roll also. Well the AWD will cure and will aid in launching the car at the track. Though some high output AWD cars still can blow the tires off quite easily, LOL :3gears:

Mopar Scott: I don't have experience with AWD DSMs but I own a Crocodile Dundee sponsored Impreza :goof

thought you might like that....LOL

How is the LilEvo running with its new AWD setup? Has he had it out yet do you know? Thats a pretty impressive addition he added to the car! :burnout

I'm sure Jason will post about it. The DSM Shootout is this weekend in Ohio...I'm guessing he's going. Should be a good time for him.

Are you located in the Milwaukee area Yellow?

jbiscuit

Yeah I have the Sonic Yellow WRX wagon. I think I have the only Sonic Yellow one that is modded in Wisconsin. :goof

Ah...I see your profile lists your location. I didn't see that before...:crazyeyes

the only problem with jason's car would be the rear end, but he is swapping that out soon enough so he should be able to run alot more boost. I believe powertrain loss in an awd with a light flywheel is in the area of 18-22% stock is around 26%, he could also throw a psds drive shaft in it thats lightweight and have somewhere around 14% drivetrain loss, which is a great trade off for the traction he gains. At least now he gets to have fun with transfer cases blowing up, Scott did you ask him if he wanted to buy some tcases yet ;)

No matter what I do there will always be naysayers :alcoholic

I'd love to go from a roll, 100% traction and pulls (pushes?) the same, if not "harder"

I'd love to see who could hang with me on a launch too :banana
Nothing like a Quaife front diff, welded center and viscous LSD rear.

Better hurry up before I tune for 35psi when I get back from the Shootout

I won't be breaking much of anything with my setup

I went for a ride at 24psi yesterday and it's sick!!!! Launches like a mofo. Yeah there still is tirespin but it pulls freaking HARD. It is very fun. I can't wait to come back from the DSM Shootout and watch him play... :burnout

Oh I'm not, just a little taken back by how well it really does launch. Willz was in the passenger seat, anything you can compare it to?

Im not trying to be that way at all. I like the car a lot. But what gives when there is that much power to 4 wheels? Do you have somthing that can handle the pressure unlike most DSM'S?

tsibred
08-12-2004, 01:54 PM
damn you are at 24 psi already, boner time. When you launched infront of jake's shop with 15 psi I had to clean out the back of my pants.

nothing like a Quaife front diff, welded center and viscous LSD rear PLUS he's fairly light still.

I dunno....

any doubters just need to see just how hard his car pulls. It's kinda hard seeing something that looks like that (j/k...kinda :goof) go that fast.
It's insane. :banana
