Basement carpet

Im looking to carpet my basement in two weeks. Straight shot across from wall to wall.

What do I need to do this right? Anyone do this for a living?

I have a question about basement carpet also. Some of my basement was tiled previously. I removed the tile, and all the loose mortar I could. There is still quite a bit of mortar in some places, do I need to remove all of it for the floor to be carpeted? Or can I just go with an extra thick pad and call it done. I don't know of any good way to get the mortar off, and its about 200 sq ft that has to come out if it has to come out. Any ideas?
