Anyone have any experience with these or suggestions or one I could try before I buy. I was thinking of getting one that still works with the auto focus. 2x maybe?

Thoughts?

You need a fast lens to use them to their full potential.

I got a 2x for my 18-270 just for fun, takes decent still shots.
(100% crop @ 540mm)

Doesn't look like it will work with the lens I have anyway. Canon EF 70-300 1:4-5.6 IS USM

I have a canon 1.4x that I use on my canon 70-200mm f2.8 and it works great. Granted it turns my f2.8 into a f4 but the auto focus still works and works just as well. Image quality is also very good with this setup, but it's not the cheapest route to getting a longer lens.
