hey iwas looking at a set of headers from hedman #66003 if it makes a difference. in the footnotes it says for chevy aluminum heads only. i have dart cast iron heads and wanna know why exactly they will only work on a chevy aluminum head vs cast iron head. ive talked to hedman tech support and a cylinder head specialist and a summit tech support and noone can give me a good answer. if anyone has any idea id greatly appreciate it so i can make a step forward here

I've got some hooker headers for sbc if your interested. As for the iron vs aluminum issue; I've never heard that on a small block. I've heard of this issue on bbc's but it was because so many aftermarket heads had raised (slightly higher than factory) exhaust ports which created clearance issues with the motor as frame on some vehicles.

usually an aluminum head also has angled sparkplugs. the angle plug heads need a different header most of the time,as there is a clearance issue.
