so it started off as another boring friday night at my house. I finally decided to stop thinking about trying my hand at doing this (i was pretty sure i was going to fail a lot before getting any sort of good results). So i went out and picked up the needed supplies to get this done, i spent less than $20 on the setup today and used stuff around the house to do the rest. I spent about a hour playing with this and making adjustments to see how it was effecting the photos. Anyway, i got a lot of bad shots during the testing but got a few I thought came out kinda neat. Best part is there is very very little photoshop that needs to be done to get the image looking like this. Ive got a few more things i want to try to make them better, and will probably give it a shot tomorrow. Let me know what you guys think.

Those look pretty good! What did you need from the store? A box of matches?

$0.80 worth of incense, $1 for a incense holder, and $13 for a black curtain as my backdrop. i used painters tape to hang it on a wall, and used a tv tray to burn the incense on. real high tech stuff here :)

and a couple more that i used more fill flash and did some slight editing to brighten it up and separate from the background and delete the stray smoke.
