where do ringtones go when dled to phone? can'yt i access them outside of itunes?

If I remember correctly they get saved next to all of your music files, you can't use them for a ringtone unless you put them in through itunes, they have to be saved as an m4a file I believe.

they have to be saved as m4r files. Then when you connect your phone you move it to the phone, and a "Ringtones" should show up in the list. Thats how it was on my iphone 4 anyway.

The proper format is m4r, I had a brain freeze since its been a while. You can convert any song to an apple format, cut it down to 30 sec and go manually change the file extension to r instead of a.
