Anyone ever hear of it? It went off on my computer yesterday....whilst the wifey was using the computer of course  :goof but what a fricken bitch to deal with...nothing would work except in safe mode.

Wouldn't let me run anything like Norton, spybot search and destroy, or pretty much anything. Even in safe mode neither could root it out. Eventually did a systems restore which then allowed me to run norton, and now the cpu is working fine and all my protections are updated...

but then the question remains, did I get rid of the system tool virus? What else can I do?
<<NOT a computer guy....

thanks,
chris

In most cases if you scan with Microsoft Security Essentials, Spybot and Adaware in Safe Mode they will clean a system out. It's pretty common for one of them to find things the others don't. Depending on your skill set you can use Hijack This to clean it up too.

I've had pretty good luck with Malwarebytes. Install it in Safe Mode with Networking and update the definitions, then do a full system scan.
