I want to hang a calendar on my fridge but cannot find a magnet (with hook) strong enough. The calendar weighs approximately 3 pounds and the magnets I found at the usual stores (Target, Wal-Mart, etc) were not strong enough. My thought is the fridge's smooth finish is negating some if not most of the magnet's strength causing the calendar to slide when hung. I need something safe to use, this fridge is not mine (renting) and cannot chance any damage......

I searched online but did not find any magnet stores in the area and cannot think of where to find something like this.....

:thumbsup

I got some of the super magnets from american science to hold my front plate on my car without drilling holes in the bumper. They worked well.

Tear apart some old hard drives for the rare earth neodymium magnets. These things are bat shit crazy strong!

Woodcraft sells rare earth magnets in a variety of sizes. They are a bit closer to Brookfield and you don't have to wade through the junk at AS&S.

word!

I have a calendar hanging at my desk with one of those, and it's holding itself up from a single screwhead buried deep in the drywall/mud.

Just go over to Elliots Ace Hardware on Moreland and Bluemound. They have neodymium "super" magnets in containers as well as I thought I saw hook-type ones. Otherwise, get a tube of 2-part multi-use clear epoxy and some 3M hooks and make your own.

Otherwise, if you want larger volumes of magnets in any size you want, I purchase them directly from Applied Magnets for my transmission rebuilds at: http://www.magnet4less.com/index.php?cPath=122

I did not find anything useable at American Science & Surplus but a person working the counter told me Michael's craft store will have what I need. On my way to Michael's I stopped at Lowe's for something unrelated and being curious checked their magnet selection. I expected the same pathetic selection of sh!t quality items found at Home Depot, Menards, Wal-Mart, etc only made to hold a coupon. I was like a kid on X-mas morning after seeing this beauty good for 9 pounds, at least twice the calendar’s weight. The best part was the price of $3.....:headbang

Or you can always get the magnets out of old microwaves.

That's cool. I've always liked the early ones and yeah I like the 2011 SHO as well. Even tho the car is huge, it has what every car or truck should have TURBOS!
