unlock an iphone 4 question

Long story short I picked up an Iphone 4 very cheap but it has the password locked on it and I don't know it. (probably why I got it cheap)

Question is how do I unlock it? I looked on google and it showed me the emergency call trick but it doesn't work. Is there a way I can flash it / restore it?

didnt the owner know the code otherwise i would say its stolen and now u own a brick

yea, I figured as much. Oh well, thank god i didnt pay to much for it. Guess I can now put in on craigs list to look for the REAL owner haha
