I saw a turbo + supercharger set up on a Integra once. Why? I don't know.

The 1988-89 Supercharged 1.6 liter Mr2 used to have a "twin charging" kit available from HKS, however this is no longer available. This would only be necessary on a smaller displacement motor since most V8's have all the exhaust flow needed to spool twin or single turbo setups without any perceived lag. The idea was to use a positive or roots type supercharger to get the motor up to speed fast spooling the larger turbo (which, in theory, would have monster lag on a small displacement motor), and then disengage the supercharger in the upper rpm range when it would become ineffecient (the turbo would outflow any roots style and be much more efficient in this case). Toyota's factory supercharged had a clutch on it's pulley (much like a clutch on an AC pulley) that cut power to the supercharger in different situations. This is how HKS got away with "twin charging" that motor. Today with the state of turbo's as they are now, there really is no need for this kit, as most turbo's (Garretts GT series) spool incredibly fast with awesome effeciency.

:wstupid

though its pretty good fabbing, its more for show than anything. If this was better you would see it instead of twins at events like FFW

What about that monster burnout posted a few months ago?

Usually, the turbos are first and a twin screw s/c comes second.

On the 12.01L Detriot Diesel engines that I work, they have a GIANT turbo directly above a GIANT twin screw supercharger. Then between the intake manifold and the s/c theres a nice after cooler. It's an awsome setup!! The two may have somthing to do with the 1,600lb ft of tq. :D

Are they 2 stroke diesels?

open class rally cars used to use setups like that until they banned it. looks like fun on the sti and complete insanity on that second car.

Anyone remember Rick Dobbertin's car from back in the day? Turbos, Superchargers and a shot of Juice for good measure in a J2000/Sunbird?

I beleive their 4 stroke.

I beleive their 4 stroke.
I know they do that with their two strokes, but I wasn't aware of it being preformed on any four stroke applications.

If you guys like twin charged vehicles, check this out!

Here's the article:

And if you want to see this thing in action, check out this awsome video! The sounds of a supercharged and turbo charged car with a good exasut note is sweet! It gives me goose bumps :wooo

If thats the diesel engine from the smaller tracked vehicles (pretty sure thats the one your talking about) it is a 2 stroke diesel, had a class on them about 3 years ago.

Have you had the chance to tinker/work on any of the diesel turbine engines from the M1's ???? Now that is an awesome powerplant Turbine engine = no redline faster it spins, the more power it makes

All Pike's peak rally cars are twin charged, little is known or done about it in the street world seeing as how its a nightmare to tune. Benefits are low end power but because most chargers can't flow what the turbo can at max efficiency, so the setups are mainly used to generate quick spool and low end power.

Hemmts are pretty new so I dunno if they share an engine w/ a track vehicle. Also their made by Oshkosh. All I did on it was adjusted the rocker arms for valve timing. No worky on any track vehicles yet, but I remeber seeing the M1 engines at AIT they are FRIGGEN ENORMOUS. I think the turbos on that thing are the biggest ones in production? :D :D :D

Just did my reaserch:
