Make sure to check on your PVC * Intake & Exhaust *

If your clueless to what I'm talking about ill explain, IF your furnace high efficient it will suck in fresh air and exhaust air. If something should block it the furnace will not run or short cycle, even if you have HEAT check them because you can still slowly damage your furnace is the conditions are just right.....

2nd if you do venture out tell Lassy where your going :rolf

Yep got to thank my dog, she was crying and pacing at 5 this morning I got up to kick her ass and noticed there was no heat. Looked out the only window that wasn't covered and could see a 8 foot drift covering the vent! Needless to say she got an extra biscuit for breakfast!

I was just going to post the same thing.

My furnace kept cycling on/off at 3am, so I had to gear up and unbury the pipes.

Just did my neighbor too, she has a broken arm so there was no way she could do it.

Blowing air out the intake pipe from the inside with an ELECTRIC leaf blower and/or sucking from the outside with large shop vacuum might help......

my blower fan died that connects to the pvc pipe. Pipes were never clogged. Smells like electric burning. Fan motor is really hot. hoping that is something I can get at johnston supply

Its your inducer motor. They most likely have it. Otherwise go to Grainger.

New inducer motor from Johnstone supply... FIXED!

Only $160. Got a new filter while I was there. That was another $28. Huge filter.

Cheaper than a service call and only took five minutes to install.

That call would have been about $560-$850 depending on furnace, bonus that you can get the part and install it !!!

Now my blower motor is making a lot of noise (bad berring on motor?)

Looking online, it is one of the more expensive ones and they have an upgrade with board to replace the old one.

Do I spend $800 or so on fixing it or buy a new furnace with a better warranty etc..

The furnace is a Trane XL 90 and is 8 years old.
