Warning/ FYI Ford lemon, non-recal issue.

Went to look at a freinds 2005 Escape, crank no fire complaint. Had spark at one of the 3 accesable COP up front, all plugs soaked. Swapped COP's around with all partialy firing on the middle signal wire from PCM, good power but bad ground signal from PCM....ouch!

Came home just now to find people from North America to Australia sceaming about PCM inj driver failures on the 2005-2006 Escapes. Correct repairs include 6 new coils, 6 new plugs, wiring harness and PCM. Happens around 88-92k miles just out of warranty, $2100 repeat failures common complaint.

If you have one run the correct SP417 plug only! I would sell one if you have one, ticking time bomb that can leave you stranded at any given time (usualy when cold out).

It is not fixable with a ground,or is it a internal ground failure in the pcm circuit board?

Internal circut failues for ground drivers, new boards have completly different driver boads (inside pcm).

My brother has an 2006 Escape sitting at about 56K. He has a really good extended warranty I just need to check when it expires.

Also have 6 lightly used cops for it in the garage if ever needed. Sounds like the PCM and harness are the big dollar items.

Towed in to Ford and an hr diag later at $89 they said their machanic (me) was correct it needs a PCM and reflash....took me 30 minutes with a DVM in a dark garage with no lighting.

$1249 ecm and reflash, $87 shipping???? WTF is a hot model hand delivering it naked for $97? Numerous class action proposals out there, may go the way of Chrysler 604 trans diff pin suits.
