I currently have insurance through Allstate with my soon to be ex-wife but need to get a policy on my own. Our agent is Michelle Klemm in South Milwaukee and I could not be happier with the service/pricing she provided us over a 4-5 year span. However, when she ran a quote for just me (30-year old male with a clean record) driving a 1988 Aerostar with minimal coverage the rate was outrageous. The amount was so much she told me I could easily go somewhere else and pay half that amount.....

I always had insurance through 'traditional' insurance companies like Allstate, American Family, etc. but would like feedback on 'newer generation' insurance companies like Geico, Progressive, etc. I got online quotes from a few of these companies and the pricing is unbelievably inexpensive. Obviously I would like to go with the cheapest quote but do not want inadequate coverage or any issues if I need to file a claim.....

I am curious to hear feedback and suggestions on all insurance providers but specifically these newer companies.....

I have mine with State Farm, Kevin Grall in Oak Creek. I have numerous vehicles and toys etc. and in particular the coverage on the toys and toy cars is unbeatable by anyone. Overall I am paying close to half what I was paying through Allstate previously, and the toy cars they have specialty type insurance that is like 1/3 when compared to anywhere else and places like Hagerty. If you call him, tell them I sent you I think I get like $25!

We've had a bunch of different companies over the years, we left Progressive in the summer for State Farm because they were cheaper. I was surprised

We go through RS Semler for our home and auto. http://www.rssemler.com/

Our insurance is through Auto-Owners. Am Fam couldn't touch any of the rates and we get higher coverage. Semler is an insurance agent, so they are linked with a variety of companies so they can shop for a better rate.

Call Servant insurance. 414-421-9200 No particular agent they transfer you to first available rep. They are in the Franklin business park not all that far from you, About 51st & Ryan. My family and I have been customers for a very long time. I pay 750 a year for my Crown Vic. that's with 500K coverage straight across 10k medical and 60 bucks a day rental car coverage.

When I called for a 99 Blazer I was considering buying, they quoted me around 400 a year for just liability but there was a small multi car discount built into that somewhere.

So far Barb through Progressive destroyed all other quotes by a mile. I need to call Monday to confirm the numbers she gave me; they almost seem too good to be true.....

I appreciate all the suggestions, keep them coming......:thumbsup

I pay ridiculously low prices, I called EVERYONE and noone was close to State Farm as I said. Particularly on the specialty cars - I pay something stupid like $38 a year for my Trailduster for full coverage with a $15000 stated value. I pay like $200 a year for my Challenger with a $60000 stated value. Its only like $700 a year for my twin turbo Viper with $125000 stated value... Allstate and Haggerty wanted like $3000 a year for my Viper alone. The only restrictions really are for "pleasure use only" and you have to have another daily driver insured with them.

Even my Caliber turbo daily is cheap like $500 or less a year. Motorcycles were also ridiculous it was like $125 a year for my CBR 600 F3 and I could suspend it for most of the year so it was like $50 a summer lol.

I use Robert Feest and always get a better rate than any online quotes. He's a broker so they look through many different insurers. I currently pay $147/month for comprehensive on 3 vehicles and homeowners insurance with Acuity.

Debbie shops around for your insurance. If your insurance goes up a noteworthy amount she goes and looks for a better rate. She has always been helpful and fast.

I just recently switched to farmers insurance. I pay $192 every 6 months for my 2004 Maxima with full coverage. I couldn't be happier with that price.

Oh, and progressive sucks. Their rates suck and their cheap ass adjusters give horrible estimates.

After receiving more quotes than I will admit Barb Lauterbach with American Advantage Insurance Group (262-510-8895) is my new agent. She was beyond helpful and great to deal with, outstanding customer service rarely found in today’s world. The rates she got me were not only much cheaper than the others but the coverage amounts are literally double or more. Here is a breakdown of my rates.....

Every vehicle has 500/500/250k liability, 250/500k under/un-insured driver, and 10k medical coverage.

1988 Ford Aerostar – Comprehensive coverage only with a $1000 deductible and $0 deductible glass = $101/6 months.....

1990 Honda Accord - Comprehensive coverage only with a $1000 deductible and $0 deductible glass = $129/6 months.....

1992 SHO Taurus – STORAGE comprehensive only with a $100 deductible and $0 deductible glass = $30/6 months. (When driving with collision a.k.a. FULL coverage and a $100 deductible = $183/6 months).....

2000 SVT Contour – STORAGE comprehensive only with a $100 deductible and $0 deductible glass = $42/6 months. (When driving with collision a.k.a. FULL coverage and a $100 deductible = $267/6 months).....

At the moment I pay $50 per month ($302/6 months) for everything and will pay $113 per month ($680/ 6 months) if driving all 4 of these vehicles. Considering the amount of coverage and very low deductibles these rates are amazing. If you thought about shopping for a new quote I urge you to call her at 262-510-8895. All she needs is your basic information and vehicle’s VIN......

A BIG THANK YOU TO EVERYBODY WHO REPLIED WITH A REFERRAL...!!! :thumbsup

Why do you have a $1000 comprehensive coverage for a 1990 accord and 1988 aerostar?

Car Guy

To get the $0 glass deductible comprehensive coverage is needed. I chose the highest comprehensive deductible (with the $0 glass deductible) which means a lower rate. I am only concerned about any glass needing replacement with the Aerostar and Accord.....

Umm... That breaks down to 64 bucks a month for full coverage. And I don't have renters or homeowners insurance to deal with so I don't get the extra discounts. Seems pretty damn good to me, and haven't been able to beat it. If you have a better idea, I would love to hear it. Again coverage was 500k/500k/500k 10K medical and up to 60 bucks a day rental car coverage with a $500 deductible.

I may call Barb just to see though. Mostly cause my insurance offers no glass coverage. And after two unfortunate incidents meeting a rock on the freeway. That gets expensive quick.

This is why I went with the glass coverage, well worth the few dollars.....

biggest thing i've learned with insurance is to FREQUENTLY shop around. whenever your policy is up for renewal, give some folks a call. i have no problem jumping agents, or companies, and the independant agents (sounds like this lady dave reccommended is one) really do the leg work quickly. i've stuck with allstate now after a few years because my policy gets cheaper and cheaper with the gold coverage, and not having any claims, it goes down every year. i think it's dropped about 20 a month in 4 years. that's not too shabby

Great advice Steve. Barb is an independent agent dealing with 30-40 auto insurance companies. I had ‘captive’ agents (only deals with one company) all my life and will probably never go back.....
