We all heard about Arakansas dead birds, now fish?

The Arkansas town of Beebe witnessed an extraordinary sight on New Years Eve as thousands of birds dropped from the sky dead. Now just 125 miles from that strange occurrence 100,000 fish have been found dead in the Arkansas River.

The drum fish clogged 20 miles of the river in the northwestern section of the state near Ozark.

A tugboat captain first noticed the fish on Thursday and now wildlife officials are trying to ascertain what killed the fish.

"The fish kill only affected one species of fish," said Keith Stephens of the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission. "If it was from a pollutant, it would have affected all of the fish, not just drum fish."

Officials are also trying to find out what killed flocks of blackbirds just before midnight on New Year’s Eve.

Some biologists believe fireworks or the weather may have caused stress-related death for the birds and don’t believe the fish kill is linked to the mass bird death.

The number of birds killed was initially reported at 1,000, but has since been updated to 5,000.

This reminds me from a scene of a movie called "Night of the Living Dead" LOL

Yet some say it's a Biblical sign of the end of the world or its the Goverment HARP program.

Whatever it is, I'm ready.

I'd love to hear it was windfarms. It'd give me a warm fuzzy inside thinking those turbines could be so efficient at taking out a flock of shitty blackbirds.

Not sure how to explain the fish tho... fish flu? :goof

Maybe it was just some backwoods hick that's a really good shot after a few beers?

Maybe the birds flew into the force-field of a hovering alien spaceship!!

that is the only explanation that makes sense.

They are not sure what caused the fish die off. Toxins or pollutants would have killed all species, so they are thinking some virus or bacteria related only to the drum fish (sheephead). The populations are so huge in the area that the fish probably succumbed to a specie wide illness.

What is HARP? Is that the "death ray" that was on that show with Jesse Vantura?

Maybe they gave them all an experimental flu shot? Or maybe is was just the same one they've been dishing out to everybody for free.

Bird flu, fish flu, it's all a terrorist plot to end the western world. We're all fucked. Time to seal up the house with duct tape and go sit in the basement with a tin-foil hat on, with the latest version of WOW, a couple cases of Spaghetti O's and a blow-up doll like Myles does... :alcoholic :rolf

About 100 or so birds died here in North Carolina I just found out, Pelicans. But they suspect people are killing them because their eating all the fish.

All I'm saying is, whats with the fish/bird epidemic. Someone trying to kill off all the healthy food animals? haha

Vince Condella said tonight that the Arkansas birds were nowhere near the lightning and storms, so you can pretty much rule out any hail or lightning (according to Vince) :thumbsup

Alien spaceship... final answer.

Some important dude who supposedly knew what was going on, worked for the Pentagon, turned up murdered in the back of a Garbage truck this week in a landfill.

Chemical weapons test. That's my theory.

As being in a testing stage, them now, more bird/fish later, it was a general joking comment. But why do I have to explain, oh wait I got it...

My comment was referring to old childhood song that had a verse about "Four and twenty blackbirds baked in a pie".
