any recommendations as far a tubing bender that will PROPERLY bend rollcage size tubing?! tubing along the lines of 1 5/8 o.d. x .118 mild steel tubing, or 1 5/8 x .083 chrome moly tubing.

^ I hate to recommend harbor freight, but a buddy has one and say it works fairly well. Also check out slickdeals.net for a 25% off coupon if you decide to go that route.

These are commonly referred to as "tube kinkers"...

That's what I've heard!

my benders are both homebuilt. stay away from the HF kinker.
mandrels are a couple hundred a piece.
hand benders are time consuming

That sucks, either way the one Keith linked starts at just under $300 and looks worlds better than the harbor ones. Just a manual bender not pneumatic.

I have one of the cheap ones, they dont come with the 1-5/8 dies, beyond that the top rollers for bars are one size fits all. I watched them bend my main bar at Alston and both the lower and upper dies where specific to the 1-5/8" tubing. Your welcome to come borrow mine, I'll chip in if your want to order the 1-5/8" die.

There are nice DIY benders online, the large portion of the cost is the 1-5/8" dies specific for auto cages.

That's good to know... The only thing is I need it for multiple different occasions and having it next to my work piece would be key. But I'd be intrested in posslyi trying to work somethin out with you.

I used one just like this to build a baja car in college. We were working with 1 1/4 x .060" and it worked well. Might be a little tiring to bend what you're looking for though.

I used the HF one and it worked pretty good. I found this place located in IL called Broke Dick Racing(no joke) and I ordered a 10 point 4130 CM cage for my Supra for $500. It's all pre-bent and they leave a little extra on some of the tubes to make driver size adjustments. As soon as it's done I will be driving down to pick it up to save the $160 for shipping. Auto Power also has pre bent roll cages.
