Anyone recommend which maker of lipos they like?

I really like venom brand. Excellent quality, even better customer service and warranty. And ALWAYS buy a hard case lipo. Much safer! They can take abuse and less likely to explode if something stabs the case or a rock pinches in the battery tray

They did two lipo battery comparisons that have a lot of info too.

Congrats on the purchases. Did you get a new esc too? Hobby town has the cool sidewinder esc and brushless motors for short course trucks in stock.

Yes the battery life is awesome I have a soft hyperion 3s been beating it up for almost a yr and no complaints. I didn't get the hard case cause I don't plan to race at a sanctioned place

I just got the hard case for a little added protection. No racing for me just outdoor bashing. Can't drive straight enough.

Are lipos not a fan of cold weather?

Venoms are a very good battery for the price. I have 2 of the 3200 lipos and 2 of the 5000 lipos and they have never let me down.

As far as the cold temps and lipos, I actually won a larger event last winter after charging the battery right next to the window. Everyone elses batteries were around 90-100 degrees in tech before the race, and mine was at 32 degrees, lol. It didn't make a diffrence at all in power, and it didn't hurt the battery.
