Is there any place local that will make an aluminum driveshaft? or is this something that i should just have sent out to a company that does these more often? this is for a potential new project i've had in mind.
thanks

+1 for a1 driveshaft, did a great job on mine.
As an aside IMO aluminum DS was a little overrated. My steel one was surprisingly light... I'd bet the thing only weighed 15 pounds or so?!
Not to mention stronger and cheaper.

yeah, i was kind of wondering how much is actually lost, i was gonna see if they had a rough guess of a weight difference between the two.

+ about 50 for a1 driveshaft... they have built about 10 sets of cv shafts for me, and not one set failed. A couple boots ripped, but that was it.

i looked up another Driveshaft company (driveshaftshop.com) and the aluminum vs. steel is only a 4lbs differance. LOL. and over $100 more. i don't see 4lbs really affecting that much, even though its rotating mass.

Depends what your doing, road race setup will get more out of a lighter ds than strictly drag use/street use. If its 4lbs I wouldn't worry about it, plus if your making good power and are using sticky tires, the steel seems wiser.
Another +1 for A1, quick turnaround service, kinda shady with the all cash off the books deal, but at least it was cheaper!

Machine services behind American TV. they can balance and shorten both alum and steel shafts, I assume they can build one.
