Guys,

I just had my first frozen car door experience so far this winter, and I'm wondering what everybody does to remedy this. Whether it's WD-40, Petroleum Jelly, or Silicone on the rubber stripping, I'm wondering what you guys have found that works. Additionally, my car doesn't have a frame around the windows, so I'm looking for something that won't damage the glass, but I can't really see any lubricant doing that. Regardless, I don't really want to get into a wrestling match with my doors everyday this winter...

Two broken Ford handles for me in the last two years.
Best thing I've found so far that doesn't leave a mess is Armor all on the seals and waxing the door jambs where the seal makes contact.

Tried the silicone grease. It'll work for a while but will leave a white residue on the seals.

I wouldn't do this. Oil will make the seals swell

This....or any of the Mothers/Meguiars products meant for plastics and/or rubber detailing. Spray some on a rag, whipe onto the seal...I would even whipe some onto the area inside the door that will contact the seal. A little Armor All on the glass (if you don't have a window frame) or paint won't hurt a thing.

GM krytox weatherstrip lube(3634770) is supposed to work awesome for that but it's expensive as all hell. 60 bucks for an ounce. I just got some stuff called Gummi Pflege Stift that had good reviews but haven't put it on yet. It was $11 shipped.

If I dont use natural look on the seals, I use the Gummi Pflege Stift (http://www.detailedimage.com/wax.php?id=13767&url=detailedimage.com/Einszett-1Z-M46/Gummi-Pflege-Stift-Rubber-Care-Stick-P474/100-ml-S1/). That is some good stuff!

Pure silicone fluid. The Krytox is DuPont Perflouropolyether. GM private labels it like everyone else. I have 2 Subarus and past two years no issues.

I get my fluid at work, but I got 55 gallons of it. If you need 1 oz to do your doors, lets plan a wings night and I'll bring some fluid.

Last winter my car ('89 Camaro) was kind enough to have both doors freeze shut so bad, I had to climb in through the hatch. It was awesome, to say the least.

That sounds great! I live in Wauwatosa, but am free to drive wherever. Just PM me and let me know where and when.

I really appreciate all the suggestions guys!

In a bind, I heat up a large mug of water in the micro and pour on the lock, for frozen locks. Works every time.

I was always able to get the door pulled open tho.
