Didnt see a thread for it but another day in history that schools and the media shouldnt simply overlook. Thoughts and prayers with those that passed on and the few remaining survivors.

its kind of a shame that I am teaching my kids about this and it wasnt even mentioned in their school!

Yeah, my grandfather refused to talk about it with anyone. He was one of the many that was deployed to Pearl Harbor for clean up and salvage. He would tell me stories of the big birds that he would work on as a mechanic. But never of Pearl. I wasn't till I enlisted that I really understood his pride of his service.

So much of it gets glassed over in 2 paragraphs in today's history class. When it catapulted us into WWII. And after the Japanese commanders realized what happened they knew that they had "awaken a giant".

i am so sick and tired of everything having to be politically correct, this cant be taught in school no pledge of allegience, it is disgusting. This day will be nothing but a long lost memory in 50 years no one will care about.
The people that died at Pearl are turning in their graves with what is happening today.
god speed to all that died, then and now at war.

I teach in high school auto shops pretty regularly, you would be surprised how man kids actually stand up for the pledge of allegiance in the morning.

Agreed ! I served because I love my country. When people fail to stand, remove their hats and cover their heart during our national anthem I get very angry. Failing to stand at the pledge of allegiance is like kicking me and all who served a kick in the nuts.

funny thing was that my daughter saw the first 2 pics then as I started going over it with her, I just pasted from most of the sites I was using for reference materials to help her understand how large scale it was.

Nope, I didn't forget. I didn't post about it yesterday becasue I wanted to see if BCM went all batshit crazy for it like they do 9/11.

Good to see a few of you remembered and are not just into the "cool" tragic days hyped up by the media.

Also, I want to say the media sucks dick. I watch the news a lot on TV and many of them didn't say shit about this day until the last 5 mins of programing. Cock suckers.

My 10yr old son is into Call of Duty video games, which got him interested in some of the old wars. He likes watching old war movies and mini-series like Band of Brothers (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0185906/) and The Pacific (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0374463/).

Definitely check those out if you're into history.

Reminds me of a little kid I know. His mom works for us and was worried that he knew all the names of all kinds of guns, and all the details of past wars from the video games he plays. My dad and I looked at her and told her it's a good thing the kid is getting educated.

It was brought up in my history classes every year in High School, regardless if it was US history or not, you guys must have went to some pretty crappy schools...

Though I remember arguing with idiot kids why they should stand and say the pledge like the rest of us. Senior year my AP stats teacher even made everyone stand up and say it, no excuses, the way it should be.

When I worked at Fridays front row we used to kick people out who didn't stay quiet for the national anthem. :thumbsup

I was surprised that no flags were at half-mast on my way to work yesterday.
