guys,

a buddy of mine has a 2007 jetta tdi that he drives the wheels off of, working in sales. it has 150k miles on it and has thrown some sort of code that the vw dealership says will require pulling the head on the motor--they quoted him $5600 for the repair. the car still drives just fine. he's looking for another opinion on what needs fixed and how much. anyone know a good person/shop that has experience with these cars?

thanks

I dont think throwing a code is the whole story, a salvge long block can be had a 1g and less than that to install bring total repair to 2g's with incedentals. Ask about the code its throwing, 5g's is a dealer shortblock installed.

i'll have to get a bit more info from him--he couldn't tell me what the code was--he's not a car guy at all. the only thing i could gather from him was he thought it had a bent valve, or something like that. either way, i had a feeling the stealership would rape him. i'll hook him up to get ahold of the guy in madison.

thanks guys
